per the STrib:
Outgoing Gophers Athletic Director Joel Maturi quietly signed women’s basketball coach Pam Borton to a two-year extension two weeks before he left his position for a consultant’s role in the office of the university president.
The university did not issue a release to announce the extension when it was signed. Borton acknowledged the new deal during an interview this week, and agreed that it was not publicized at the time she signed it.
Borton’s extension guarantees her a minimum of $485,000, not including benefits or incentives, for the next three seasons. The deal also means that if new AD Norwood Teague wanted to remove Borton after this season, the buyout would be slightly more than $500,000, compared to $167,500 without the extension.
Maturi could not be reached for comment.
