the past 50 some years? I don't think so. The Gophers have maintained a reasonable fan base even
though We haven't had a BIG TEN TITLE since 1967, and that was a tie with Indiana. Yet we've maintained a steady fan base of around 30,000 season tickets and crowds in the 40,000 range. We've
done this in a major professional market. In Wisconsin and Iowa it is the only game in town for the
general public, and for the students what the hell else are you going to do on a Saturday. Iowa City
and Madison aren't exactly cultural center's. I remember being in Madison during the Don Morton era
for a game and 30,000 fans might have been a stretch. Iowa before Harden Frey wasn't exactly packing them in. We keep hearing from the East and South what a pathetic fan base we've. Who's too
say they wouldn't be in the same boat or even worse if they had our record over the past 54 years.
As they.say, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. All you have to do is look at the
age of our season ticket holders to prove my point. There is a tremendous amount of loyalty there folks. So I salute all Gopher fans past, present , and future.
