Heard he’s coaching. Thinking maybe he could be head coach next year.
I thought he was bricklaying.Heard he’s coaching. Thinking maybe he could be head coach next year.
Bakary had moments of being a serviceable backup. I always also wondered why Gaston wasn't pushed out of the program. That'd have been like having Jack Wilson for 4 years.Every time I think of Bakary Konate (which admittedly isn't much these days) I always chuckle that only at Minnesota do we recruit the wrong Konate Brother as Sagaba was a stud at West Virginia.
But as bad as Konate was, he was way better than Gaston Diedhiou. I was shocked that Pitino didn't push him out of the program, nearly all other P5 coaches would have. But hey, we're nice here in MN.
Go Gophers!!
If that's the case, he should be coaching this years squad. I'm thinking the union would approve.I thought he was bricklaying.

Pretty sure not running Gaston off had something to do with that kind of shady basketball school in the Canary Islands we got him from. Shortly after he arrived, there was some scandal surrounding that program and it’s contact with coaches, including the Pitino family. No data supporting my assertion, but I’m making the connection. Gaston got a quality education in the USA. Running him off might have drawn attention to the shady operation.Bakary had moments of being a serviceable backup. CBJ was an assistant under Pitino from '13 to '18 when those players were on the roster. Would like to know the substance of conversations between CBJ and Pitino about those players.Every time I think of Bakary Konate (which admittedly isn't much these days) I always chuckle that only at Minnesota do we recruit the wrong Konate Brother as Sagaba was a stud at West Virginia.

No. Let the MIAC schools hire coaches who need training wheels to prepare for coaching in a Power 5/6 conference. On the job training for coaches is not something UMN Athletics should offer.Heard he’s coaching. Thinking maybe he could be head coach next year.

How can we not have a response from @Bakary Konate’s Hands yet?Heard he’s coaching. Thinking maybe he could be head coach next year.

Bakary represented the biggest disconnect I've ever seen between a guy who looked like a ballplayer and a guy who could actually play. When Konate walked on the court he looked like a prototypical basketball player....until he had to do anything basketball related. Anything.
Was this guy one of those Pitino signees done in late May. So sloppyWorst starting B10 center in the last 50 years. Just atrocious
