“Joey really, really respects Coach Rossi, and Coach Rossi cares about him as a person and a football player,” Hill said. “There’s got to be a level of ability to be a Division-I football player, and a lot of guys don’t have that level of ability, but then there’s the intangibles that Joey has in terms of being willing to learn and wanting to grow and improve, and I think Rossi really kind of grabbed onto that.
“It’s cool watching them interact. It’s something that I haven’t really seen before.”

Gerlach tallied 79 total tackles, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, 11 pass break-ups and two blocked kicks. He also played on every single special teams unit and scored seemingly every key touchdown for Woodbury in limited offensive opportunities.
