With No One in the Secondary Now Against a Top 5 Pass Attack, How Ugly Will it Get?

This coaching has had this squad in every game, they've had a 4th quarter lead each game they've been in, we will be ready and we will compete.

Agreed. Call me crazy, but I think we may surprise some people. We still retain Travis and Myrick back there. McGhee played a ton this season. Jacob Huff got some run as well. Ayinde was obviously awful against Penn State but he wasn't that bad in 2015. After that...some combination of Amoako, Durr, and Craighton will have to step up.

We are obviously badly depleted in the secondary but if there is one position group we should be confident in, this is the one. We still have 8 bodies who saw PT this year and only have to navigate one game.

Agreed it's one game and you're leaving it all out there. For some of these guys could be their last football game

Anything can happen on gameday.....this is just a horrible team to go up against with a depleted secondary. Main thing is we have to start fast, especially on offense. If we fall behind early it could be a really long day.

Rutgers moved the ball relatively easily on this defense with Hardin etc out due to the restraining order, and Winfield Jr played in that game. It's hard to see this one not getting out of hand.

Hardin is our best cover CB and aim not forgetting about Myrick. Losing him is brutal.

Agree on Hardin, thing that worries me about Myrick is that he will take chances in order to go for the flashy play at times which can lead to him getting burned. We don't face a lot of great passing offenses in the BIG. WSU threw for almost 1000 more yards and 14 more TDs then Purdue and it drops off pretty significantly after that. On paper this is a brutal matchup for our defense if we don't have the suspended players back.

Investigating possible criminal activity by students or the violation of the Student Code of Conduct is not a PC power exercise to most reasonable people. A January announcement would not have gotten the same level of news coverage and would not have had anywhere near the impact. The timing makes perfect sense to people who care about the quality and integrity of their school and the welfare of all of its students (not just athletes). Those people believe that winning football games is of much lesser importance.

We'll see as this plays out. It's clear the administration either rushed this or held it, and clearly do not have their duck in a row, so to speak. Both administration leadership and the EOAA will soon come under intense public scrutiny, beginning with the board of regents.
