Fact is, he owns a lot of the records, because he is a leader of men.

He was rewarded with the starting job because he commands respect. Great job leading the men by your example, Mitch.

The true Maroon & Gold NEVER GAVE UP ON YOU or DA GOPHERS!

Much luv from MoTown!

I would guess 90% of the team was not hoping they would keep trotting him out there after the 3rd INT

Change the name to Custer and you can say the same thing... [emoji8]

Not all Leidner's fault. A good coach puts his players in a position where they have a higher chance of success, and a lower chance of failure. (an old Tom Kelly saying).

I think Jay Johnson came in here with this idea that "his" offense was going to work in the B1G - and when he found out it wasn't working, he was too scared or stubborn to change. And Claeys is too passive of a head coach to tell Johnson to change things up. Failure was top-down until it came to the QB position.

I'm not going to look up the stats, but I'll see if I can guess some off the top of my head. All the rest of you, please join in.

* Most big game losses in Big Ten History
* Lowest Completion Percentage in Modern College Football History
* Most passes 6 feet over the receivers head since in the invent of the forward pass
* Least FBS TD to Pass Attempt Ratio in the last 20 years of FBS.
* Most game killing drives in recent memory.

Played in front of the most sell out crowds not counting away games.

After the 2nd INT, Leidner should not have gone back out. It was obvious that he was done for. So frustrating that the staff repeatedly had him out there chucking balls downfield.

Whose redshirt should Claeys have burned? Green or Croft?

Weber couldn't pass, either; it's been about ten years now - tough, hardnosed, popular-with-coaches QBs who can't pass and are not natural runners, either. Our culture?

Mitch leidner's numbers were very good overall and he was a big part of some success over the last three years. If you idiots are waiting for one kid to make this program a winner, you will be disappointed. With the exception of Max Williams, he has had nobody to throw to.

I think your evaluation is off. Guys that can't pass don't stick in the NFL for a few seasons unless they are a 'slash' type player.

Haven't we been over this already?

It seems that way...is my memory off and Weber did not play in the NFL for multiple seasons?

Never took a snap in the NFL. Completion % and QBR in CFB virtually identical to ML7. Other than that you are on point.

Watch it buddy. You're gonna open a whole other can of worms with such comments

What I don't get is that the same people that argue 'Mitch is the best option because the college coaches see him every day and you don't know better than the coaches' until they are blue in the face turn around and then argue that they know more than NFL scouts, GMs and head coaches when it comes to Weber.

There are just certain names on this board that seem to drive people to madness - Weber, Nelson, Bohl...I don't get it.

By that logic I am sure you are running around town telling everyone that you are just as NFL ready as Weber. Sober up, we can talk tomorrow.

So their completion % and QBR aren't almost identical? Mine was much lower and therefore not really relevant.

He threw to the other team just fine. He was and is terrible at his job. Nice kid, but a crappy QB.

Sure hope he got his degree, because his days of slinging footballs to opposing players is over.
