Just heard tent on KFAN. He has a long and successful history with Rick Pitino in the NBA. Just like most of us, Trent is excited in what Pitino Jr brings to the program
in style of play and enthusiasm. I think there is a very good chance TT will soon become a member of Pitino's coaching staff!

I'd be pretty excited, but is this a "hey, he should pick him" or a "he has hired him?"

Trent Tucker, when asked what his range in Williams Arena was for accurate outside shooting: "The Arena!"

Missing a question mark in the title?

Parski

Is this a good thread or a dumb thread?

I've never understood why people have always thought of Trent Tucker as some magical hire. Loved him as a player, but has he ever had a regular coaching job?

No, he hasn't. That is why I don't get the love affair either. He'd be a great hire for the broadcast team. He's proven he can do that.

If you want a guy with NBA experience you could do worse than Chris Carr.

Yep, I don't get it. There are plenty of former Gophers who have some experience coaching. I love TT, but lets hire some coaches.

You have to keep in mind that you get 3 assistant coaches (these guys aren't going to sign up to be a video coordinator). These are the guys who recruit, they actually run the players through practice, they develop players. I like Trent, I'm glad he supports the program and is excited about Richie Rich, but assistant coach positions aren't a small thing.

I would be surprised if Tucker is on the staff. I don't know if he should be or shouldn't be, but I don't think he's coached before and I don't know if his status as a former Gopher would mean that much to Minnesota's current high school players. It's been about 30 years since he suited up for the Gophers.

I hang on his every word...

Wow, a fine thread of life. to continue your existence on earth. I'd believe #1Alphabet (banned) before Parski1. Parski1. bless him, serves us all as a good bad example.

He has no experience, but hey, he's "one of us" so let's waste a valuable position on him.

I love GH commentors...drop a name, sound intelligent, opposite result happens.

He talked about it on the air several weeks ago. He said he'd be interested, but can't travel and recruit 24/7 anymore - has young kids, and doesn't want to be away.

Pitino can't afford to use a staff position in that way. Like he said, "eat, breathe, live" basketball, and that doesn't sound like that's where Trent is at in his life anymore (understandably).

Jealous.

If Kimani Young is already on board, grab Dave Thorson, overpay for JB Bickerstaff, and let's start recruiting the living *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# out of it!

Agreed. He'd be a great guy to have in the athletic department helping with fundraising, like Quincy Lewis. It doesn't make sense to have him as an assistant though.

Have no idea how TT would be as a coach or if he would blend with RP's staff and/or style of coaching. RP has to hire who he is comfortable with...
