I'll finally say it....Tubby's gotta go. I've spent years making excuses for him, but I said "This is the year" & Tubby needs to have us finish in the top half of the B1G & win at least one NCAA tourney game or I'll get behind moving him out. Well, at this point.....even a Sweet-16 appearance might not be enough. Tubby's lost the fans, even the die hard fans & completely killed all the buzz the program had going. If I'm the AD, I think it's time to pull the plug.

I'll be very disappointed if Tubby is the coach next year. It would only prolong the agony.

Right now I'm very disappointed that all of the people who said "we aren't really that good", "we got lucky in a few games," and "we will collapse down the stretch" are getting their chance to say "I told you so". I feel like if our athletes have any kind of heart, all of the naysaying should tick them off enough that it lights a fire on their back side and they play their best basketball of the season to give a big middle finger to the naysayers.
 





It's really a Catch 22 we are in. I would love to see this team win a National Championship this year. However, I would also love to see Tubby Smith coaching at any other facility in the world besides the U of M. I wonder, which is more likely to happen first...

I don’t know how I end up answering this question every week.

I’ve said it a lot, and I’ll say it again, if this team doesn’t turn things around, I do think an exit is close.

It’s tough to say whether Smith has the best shot of landing the 2014 recruits (because they’ve already build relationships with him) or a fresh (and exciting) start would.

But yes, I definitely, think some things need to change for Smith to feel secure in his position.

If you look at the Ken-Pom &/or Sagarin Ratings, and don't count our HOME losses vs Top 10 ranked teams, or our ROAD losses vs Top 15 ranked teams, we would have a 5-2 record vs Top 42 teams.

Including those games, we are 2-6 vs the Top 12/10 or 5-8 vs the Top 37/42

When we got 2 shots to play a team, we were able to beat #5/10 Wisconsin, #9/9 MSU, #34/39 Illinois & #35/42 Iowa each once.


When we only got to play a team once, we beat #37/28 Memphis, lost to #11/8 OSU & #8/6 Michigan & #2/1 Indiana, 2 of those 3 losses being ROAD games.

Gopher fans are far more down on the Gophers, than any of the cbb experts around the country are.

When idiot cbb fans try ripping on the Gophers for having so many wins, I see Michigan, Ohio St, Badger and Indiana fans sticking up for the Gophers. If they thought that the Gophers were an embarrassment to the Big Ten this season, they wouldn't stick up for them.

I see fans of those same teams and MSU fans as well listing wins over Minnesota as quality wins. They are not embarrassed to claim wins over the Gophers as quality wins, and I've seen them also point to losses to Minnesota as understandable losses.

So in light of all that, NO!!! I don't think our next 4 games will determine anything other than how well we need to do in the BTT. 0-4 is the only way we'd need to win 3 BTT games.
 




Discussion probably over.

Tubby might decide to retire or take another job, but I don't see how he could possibly be fired after tonight.

I guess if we lost all our remaining games it could happen, but short of that, no way, and the chances of us losing out are zero anyway.
