If they do, they could get smoked Saturday because the athletic, dangerous Illini are playing with renewed confidence given their impressive beatdown of the Wolves in Champagne.

Another HCing test for Brew: Will he have the Gs charged-up, fully prepped and ready to rumble following the well-deserved euphoria of a very big win over Sparty?

Based on how well (define well as you wish) for the Syracuse game, I think their heads were in THAT game, and not totally lost looking forward to the inaugural game in TCF

What bigger things?

Bigger things like South Dakota State? :cool02:

If we were playing Wisconsin or had a big national-televised Top 25 matchup following the Illinois game I'd be concerned about possibly overlooking Illinois, but frankly there isn't much to overlook to, unless they're overlooking both SDSU and Illinois as easy victories in preparation for Iowa.

Bingo!

South Dakota St? Ive never heard of a team looking two games ahead to Iowa if that's what you meant? There's no way we look past Brew's Alma Mater this week and a team that will be looking to avenge our win at Champagne last year. Repost this thread at this time next week and it will make sense.

The Gophers started the downward spin of Illinois with the win in Champaigne. The Illini, I'm sure did not forget that. We will get their best game.

This will be coaching challenge and Brewster will have to have them ready. I'm confident he can do that.

But the Illini are better than their record. There's a lot of talent on that team.

Like CRG said, I don't think we'll ever have to worry about looking past Illinois with Coach Brewster at the helm. It's kind of like how Ohio State was the biggest game of the year under Coach Mason, even bigger than the trinket games.
