I think the skepticism stems from every school being able to do that, and there being a cap. Probably still on the low end of payroll compared to schools with outside big bucks donors, and probably always will be (under the current system).
Easier to sell with a decent amount of cash in my mind. Would Payne have left if they had 600k or 700k to pay him. Maybe he would have for a million, but he sure would think about staying. Some will stay.

What has me depressed, is from this team, who would we be hell-bent on keeping for next season? I think JCJ is probably the only one?

Hopefully this changes once we get into conference play.

"Hell bent" is subjective, but JCJ, Asuma, Omot, and we don't know what we have with Shinholster or Chance Stephens yet, but they can both come back along with Durkin. Having 4-6 returners is a lot better than having 1.5.

I chose 20, as Ben’s high water mark was 19 in 23-24 season and not beating it would cause this place to implode and diminish some/much of the goodwill fostered by Niko’s hiring.

This poll is open for a week.
Initially when I saw our non conference schedule I thought 20 wins was achievable. Now after watching this team and how bad a free throw shooting group they are there is no chance they do. They will be lucky to win 15. That will depend on getting Omot healthy and keeping there best players healthy!

Problem is Omot is not healthy and now neither is Vaihola. If those two get healthy and free throw shooting improves significantly then they will improve but both are "ifs"!

Willis, Asuma and JCJ could all be top 8 or 9 on a good team. I would want them back + Shinholster and Durkin. Then you have the 3 frosh coming in. Now go out and land 4-5 good portal guys. We have enough funding to do that.

The question was about who you wanted back next year.
