This is a hell of a necro thread. Anyways I hate to say it but it's probably unlikely. The best chance was during the era of split conference titles when it was based on league wins.

Now it's a matter of getting to the title game and then pulling off an upset against what's usually a Top 5 team in the country, if not No. 1. That's a heavy gauntlet to go through, even if we did have another 2019-type squad.

Sure, they didn't win the conference title. But they had a fair (on the field) shot to control their destiny. Only lost to the two teams that are in the Natty, not bad.

All you have to do, to out a closet Iowa fan, is strategicly slip in an obvious football rule that does not benefit Iowa, such as, say giving the fair catch signal; if said poster gives indication of rationality in they’re response, they are not an Iowa fan.

This works 100% of the time.

I heard the phrase, “Iowa fans shall not be rational,” was actually adorned on the visiting locker room walls, at Kinnick for many years. However, an irrational mob, in a fit of irrational rage, stormed in after a loss, and painted over it in pink. True story.
