Why PJ flack is the correct coach for Minnesota..

Plus in Masons two best seasons he avoided Michigan and Michigan State in 99 and avoided Purdue and Ohio State in 03. The bowl game in 03 was his best win
So, beating #2 Penn State, on the road, giving PSU their first loss of the season, A PSU team that beat teams ranked #4, #8, #18, #16 teams before we played them, lost to the #16, and #15 teams, after we beat them, before shutting out #18 Texas A&M in their bowl and finishing the season at #11 in the AP poll (and yes, they did play 7 ranked teams that season, going 5-2) was not their best win that season?

Beating unranked Oregon (who was a very good team having knocked off #3 Michigan) but was 1-1 in ranked games (losing to Washington State the week after beating Michigan) was a better win? (it was a good win, I was there).

This isn’t a bit.

But I didn’t say I thought we would go 7-0
You just read something that doesn’t exist

Of course the thread I make of the best case possible scenario is a bit. I do it every year. I’ll do it again this year.
You’re acting a lot like my stalker and the goldfish USAF? Are you the same guy?
Fair, you said we should be disappointed which I took to mean you believe we should be 7-0.

And no, I don't post under any other name.

But since you're asking, you're not Heather, are you?

who is Heather?
Sorry not being an idiot makes me seem like an apologist to the regime. I’ve said numerous times this year if fleck moved on by taking another job it may be good for both parties but I think it would be wrong to fire him.

I don’t think they’ll go 7-0
But the same way I am disappointed the team wasn’t as good as I wanted this year I am going to guess I’ll be disappointed the team isn’t as good as I want next year too.

Generally I think almost any time the team is 5-4 it is probably a success.
But it doesn’t mean the team wasn’t disappointing

This team could’ve beaten cal and northwestern. Disappointing.
This team didn’t have the talent to hang with Iowa. Disappointing.
They had a schedule to go 10-2 by being the 20th best team in the country. Couldn’t take advantage.
Some years you need the 3rd best team in the country to go 10-2….gotta take advantage when you don’t. Disappointing.

I do find it interesting I keep saying schedule is tougher next year.
Perhaps tougher to go 6-6 to 9-3. Way easier to go 11-1.
Schedules are going to ebb and flow a lot.
Assuming teams remain relatively similar 2027 is a gauntlet.
2028 is a year to make a run.

Three is not a toss up, the 2019 team would absolutely destroy the 99 team. You name all the best players in 99 and the 19 team had a better player at that spot. JMS was better than Hamilton, Winfield better than Carter, Smith and Mo were better than Hammner, Tyler was the better Johnson. The Penn State team they beat was better, ain't no toss up about it
Geez, you have apparently no regard for some of our Greats from the past, I have nothing but appreciation and respect for all of those players from back in the day that you disparage above.

So you have no argument as to why 4-7 2001 is better than 9-4 2021?
Because there isn’t one.
Correct
Took a quick look at the rosters, checked the wiki page for the results to refresh my memory and seemed pretty clear to me that the underachieving team from ‘01 could’ve and likely would’ve beaten the ‘21 team. If your spreadsheets and analysis feel otherwise then good for you.

I appreciate you outing yourself as an absolute moron publicly like this

If you’re going to be a troll, do better.
If you have a TBI, good luck.

No one's disparaging anything. Better players simply had better team results. Nobody thinks Rickey Foggie sucks because Sandy Stephens won a National title. 2019 team won 11 games and seven big ten teams, they raised the ceiling of the program in the modern era, they are the standard until someone comes along and is better.

Yeah that 38-7 loss at Toledo was real inspiring.

I don’t think you’re an idiot. I think you don’t know anything about football based on how black and white you see things.
You may be very smart on other topics

Considering I said the 03 teams best win was Oregon and the 99 Penn State team fell apart after losing to us, I guess I don't really know the point of your rant. Sorry those teams weren't better than the 2019 team? Sorry the 2019 Penn State team won the cotton bowl and had a better year than the 99 Penn State team? I am sorry the ,99 Penn State teams DC was a child rapist and the HC covered up for 40 years and completely blew up he allegedly stood for?

Schmucks like you always revert to the troll call.
Guy saying 4-7 team better than 9-4 accuses other of using troll call

Again, if you’re trolling, do better
If you have a TBI, good luck.

I can at least see the argument. The 99 team had a good run game and a good defense

At least he isn’t the other guy claiming 01 is better than 2021

They did but the 19 team had both a good ground game and passing game and an even better defense. You look at all the best aspects of the 99 team and the 2019 team can match it

I agree
But I feel like the 99 defense is as a bit stronger and it would be a close game

A plausible argument can be made for 99
