I said Michigan St., especially now that we aren't in the same division. I like Dantonio. A close second would be Northwestern.

I am excluding Wisconsin and Iowa. The reason? The poll has a maximum of 10 and no one should have one of those two as your second favorite! Also, not included was Maryland and Rutgers...

Well, what if you're an alum of one of those schools like I am (Iowa)?

Why is Iowa not my favorite team? Because I'm 35 years beyond college and I've moved on in life with my choices.

Iowa probably would be my second choice, but I like Indiana (in football only) and I grew up in PA so I still hope that Penn State does well enough. Too early to tell about the two new conference teams, but at least I have nothing against them.

I don't really like any of them. Third fav was Penn State many years ago (the linebackers, the uni's with no name, Patterno, Capiletti, beating Miami in '87, etc.)

If you made me pick today, I like pulling for MSU in bowl games.

I'm like most here, Northwestern & Michigan State.

Northwestern: Mostly the obvious reasons, the prestige of the school, appear to do things the right way and have their priorities in order. Have always liked Fitz. Their fans seem to enjoy the victories rather than be angry with the defeats.

Michigan State: Always have liked them, have always liked & appreciated the way Izzo coaches, same with Dantonio now. Always looked down upon by their arrogant rival. All the MSU fans that I've met seem to be the same way as Northwestern in that they enjoy the victories and relish them.

Pretty indifferent to Illinois, Purdue, & Indiana. I used to like Penn State and still did even in the face of the scandal because one or two guys doesn't make for an entire university, but I may not like them much longer with Franklin there. I wasn't bothered by OSU when Tressel was there, but they're easy to hate now with Meyer. I dislike Iowa less than Wisconsin; I've had bad experiences with them but also some decent times with them.

The state of Wisconsin can be sold to Russia for all I care......

Never could be NW even though I like Fitzgerald. Too many games blown we should have won.

First response to thread nailed it.

I respect Nebby & Mich St. But, I have family who are Nebby alums and Season ticket holders, so I enjoy watching them.

I don't particularly like any of the other Big Ten teams. The Gophers (1st) and Notre Dame (distant 2nd) are the only teams I root for.

I voted for #1, but... After the season is over (in the bowl season), I'm an Iowa & MN fan. I married an Iowegian and have severals friends and relatives in Iowa... Most of them are great.

The Hoosiers get my vote because of a few thing:
- Gene Hackman was a great coach
- Dennis Hopper has a cool house in the country
- I liked watching Anthony Thompson and Antwan Randle El (sp?)
- Tevin Coleman is a beast
- The are the ultimate football underdog

At first I thought this poll was cool and then someone voted for Illinois. Totally ruined the mood.

I voted MSU. I've always liked Dantonio and the fact that they beat Michigan regularly.
