Who is the best Gophers team of the last 10 seasons?

Do we have to pick just one?! So much goodness to choose from in the last 10 years!

I’ll pull an audible, and answer “what’s the best team since the 1997 season” and I’ll go with an easy answer of the Grier/ARob/Hagen /Lawson team. Easily the most enjoyable season since The Gem flung his sport coat on the sidelines.

Go Gophers!!

I know they came up short in the tourney, but I feel like 2016-2017 was better than both of these teams.

Also looking at this makes me angry that Carr couldn't play on that 18-19 team. That could have been a special year.

The best Gopher teams by accomplishment in the last 10 years are the 2013-14 team and the 2016-17 team.

The 2013-14 team was a national champion! We won the NIT! That is meh to get in but turns to wow when you win it! That is an accomplishment! That team has the most wins at 25 and 13.

The 2016-17 team finished 4th in the Big Ten. They were 11 and 7 in conference play...doesn't happen here. They were 24 and 10. If Akeem Springs and Nate Mason do not get hurt they would have played deep into the NCAA Tournament.

Most every Pitino team had potential. They all derailed because somebody important was no longer available to play. Flirted or was in the Top 25 almost every year at some point. 2018-19 still advancing in NCAA Tournament if Murphy and Matz are available. If Carr could have played we are loaded but the Pitino karma sadly just never allowed things to go favorable.

This reads much more like the Tubby era than the Pitino era. I believe we were ranked for like a total of 8 weeks or something ridiculous like that during Pitino's entire tenure. Half of that time was at the start of his 5th season which started going off the rails before Lynch was removed (blown out at Nebraska and Arkansas, squeaked by Drake at home). I agree that they were unlucky with injuries late in 16-17.

Beg to differ...as I said: "Flirted or was in the Top 25 almost every year at some point"
There was hope or potential unlike Ben.
2013-14 NIT National Champs- first season. Following that nearly every calendar year at some point we were getting Top 25 votes. He's doing the same thing at New Mexico.

I was a big Patino defender. I personally like the man I think he’s a good coach. But in the end, his Big Ten record speaks for itself.
8-10
6-12
2-16
11-7
4-14
9-11
8-12
6-14
That’s 54-96 in the Big Ten with a winning percentage of 0.360. Dan Monson was at 0.367% and Tubby was at 0.426%. So when it comes right down to it none of them got the job done regardless of talent or coaching experience.

Yup, 100% Pitino needed to coach somewhere else. My only point is I think he has value as a coach. Every year there is optimism...he just hasn't put a full season together, other than his first two years as a head coach. It's almost always February and March that he falls off a cliff.
But come December he's getting Top 25 votes.
But 100% he didn't get it done...one winning season in 8 years and 4 of the 8 seasons unacceptable results is a pattern.
His style is bizarre and it works for him until somebody gets hurt because he never has had depth.
Very guard ball dominant offenses. But, New Mexico has a bunch of guys this coming season....he's finally got 10 guys who are skilled enough to deserve playing time. So if he plays 10 and an injury happens maybe they can keep winning this year.
