Who is picking seats today??

Two Obstructed View Seats Selected 6-13-09 Around Noon

We selected two 'obstructed view' consecutive seats by phone at around noon today...

Section 242, Row 1, far west end of the row ...

The 'obstruction' looks to be the taller rail that protects those in the aisle from falling off the upper deck...

We chose these as the 'obstruction' looks minor and comes into play only during play at the far west part of the field...

Plus the first row aisle will likely be spared the majority of aisle-using fans needing to use the exit during gametime as the exit is several rows higher.

It took some phone calling and research but we think it was worth it.

FYI, I find e-mail to be the better way to contact the Ticket Office. You get your questions answered by the folks who actually have the info, not the part-timers. You also get the e-mail address of the head honcho (Customer Relations Manager Dan Cohen) for additional questions.

Just as an FYI, I had been working on some things a bit with Dan Cohen but he is no longer working at the office. For now you have to call the main line or email the main line.

I had two single seats, one right in front of the other in section 218 but switched to two aisle seats directly across from the student section in 231. It should be a good time being right next to the students. Looking at the seats it looks like a rail might block part of the near endzone but nothing too severe.

We picked at 12:10 today. All consecutive seats were gone by then obviously so we called the ticket office to ask about obstructed view in rows 1 and 2 of the upper deck. We got Section 215, Row 1, Seats 7 and 8. I looked at the stadium map afterward and couldn't figure out how those seats (in the middle of the row) could be obstructed. I called the ticket office twice and asked about our seats, both times they told me the seats are NOT obstructed. First row upper deck after being 1300+ on the waiting list = awesome. If you have yet to pick, I suggest calling 800-UGOPHER to ask.

Man would I be pissed off if I had picked the last rows in sec 231 this morning. If all you have to do is call the ticket office and they give front row second deck unobstructed seats to a fifth day wait lister, it sounds like a lot of last years season ticket holders got hosed.

The # of seats that fit this definition is extremely small. Also, they are likely to only be good if you were picking 2 seats (I doubt they were holding 3 + in a row). So its not like everyone who already picked got "screwed". That said, I'm sure there would definitely be some fans who would have preferred these "obstructed view" seats to the one's they selected and I wouldn't begrudge them the right to be pissed.

I hope you die in a fiery car wreck you lucky SOB.

I saw a pair open a couple of minutes ago for a 5 min span... are checks bouncing in gopher nation? Mine was due a week ago, maybe the derelict are seeing their tickets go on the block.

But seriously 215178 I hate you. Years in the dump and you just waltz and grab the same...

We figure somebody didn't pay in time and these seats opened up just in time for our phone call. Like I said, time to head to the casino.

Schwab - did you have to fork over the donation for these seats as well? Or were they "free" because of the obstructed view?

The expected $250 per seat donation was required to purchase our season tickets with 'obstructed views' due to the railing.

Perhaps someone realized the stadium would be dry and called to cancel?

I am a little jealous of these people getting front row seats today, but its all good. Also, no seats are obstructed view, if you are standing up and making noise.
