Of teams in the conference not winning the conference in the past 10 years, who has the best shot to win one first (not including the newbies - MD, NE and RU). Gophers and Indiana last championship 1967, Northwestern/Purdue 2000, Illinois 2001, Iowa/Michigan 2007. I truly believe the Gophers are in the best position followed closely by Michigan

If you are talking this season then there is no doubt we are at the top of the list simply because we play on the opposite side of the conference from Ohio State and Michigan State. I don't know that I would lump Nebraska in with the newbies but based on your list for this year I would go: Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana.

If we are talking best shot to win the Big Ten in the next 5 years I would go: Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana.

If we include Nebraska I would put them second behind us this year and second behind Michigan in 5 years.

I think it's fair to include Maryland and Nebraska in there as they haven't won a conference title since 2001 and 1999 respectively. I think you could include Rutgers as well. They did win the Big East in 2012 (a 4-way tie for first in an 8 team conference), but I don't expect them to be a team that is consistently in the run for a Big Ten title.
