Has Joyner made a decision about returning for his last year?
Yes, i may have overextended by saying zero. Ersery could sit out. It might be an old school take but if you aren’t a for sure round 1-3 draft pick, I would want to put more tape out there vs good opponents to hopefully be invited tit he combine. Walley might be in that conversation already so he too may opt out.I am so confused by this post. What is your threshold for a player opting out? Your last sentence makes is sound like 'definitely will be drafted' as the threshold.
If that's the case, we 100% have players that should opt out. Ersery being the primary as he's being looked at as a 1st round pick.
Would guess they can still opt out. An nfl player could opt today if he wanted. He just wouldn’t get paidI think most play. It will be interesting what schools allow players to do once they are paid through the schools. Will opting out be allowed without the school agreeing to it?
IMO he might as well. Was not dominating this season, but not sure if he’s getting draftedHas Joyner made a decision about returning for his last year?
B1G has likely 4 in playoff, so all teams move up.Syracuse will be invited to a much better bowl than we will. They’re sitting at a 9 win season after beating #6 Miami so I don’t think we’ll need to worry about being paired up with them.
You're more likely to tear an ACL on a grippy field IMO. Where the foot doesn't move but your upper leg does. Could be other types of injuries on a hard/icy field though.I'd opt out if it is the Pinstripe Bowl, that field is a ACL waiting to happen. Chase Field in PHX isn't any better. Need to keep these bowl games at real football fields.
He drew a lot of attention this year. Stats probably don't show his full impact. He'll play in the NFL.IMO he might as well. Was not dominating this season, but not sure if he’s getting drafted
ACC is weak and Miami has been very overrated.Syracuse will be invited to a much better bowl than we will. They’re sitting at a 9 win season after beating #6 Miami so I don’t think we’ll need to worry about being paired up with them.
Hell no.I honestly hope every Gopher player that will be leaving the program for the NFLl draft opts out. Let's give next year's players a chance to practice with the first team and play first team in a meaningful game against a good opponent. Let's start prepping for next year with the ball game
Ryan Burns said today that he's strongly considering coming back for his last seasonHas Joyner made a decision about returning for his last year?
Yeah I don’t get that line of questioningYou're more likely to tear an ACL on a grippy field IMO. Where the foot doesn't move but your upper leg does. Could be other types of injuries on a hard/icy field though.
If Joyner and Eastern come back on top of Logan-Redding, we'd be set for next year. That would be a hell of a defensive line.Ryan Burns said today that he's strongly considering coming back for his last season
Don't forget Anthony Smith!! DogIf Joyner and Eastern come back on top of Logan-Redding, we'd be set for next year. That would be a hell of a defensive line.
You're forgetting the issue of playing on a baseball field with shitty seams and temp grass. Jack Trice doesn't have thatYeah I don’t get that line of questioning
If the game was played at the giants stadium ACLs would be more likely
You could make an argument to me that minor injuries are more likely at Yankee stadium, or concussions on a frozen field.
Highs in the 40s 11/14 days in the Bronx.
I don’t think it’s any more dangerous than playing at jack trice this weekend
Losing your footing doesn’t cause ACL injuriesYou're forgetting the issue of playing on a baseball field with shitty seams and temp grass. Jack Trice doesn't have that
Only if they send us to the Ice (Pin Stripe) Bowl in Yankee Stadium. Then I can't fault any player with NFL prospects from opting out. It was a joke last time. But hopefully we are in NC or somewhere else warm.
From watching the Army-Notre Dame game at Yankee Stadium a week ago, the playing surface looked totally fine. 2 years ago, NYC was having quite a warm December (zero snow), maybe that kept the moisture in the playing surface and made it abysmal.Only if they send us to the Ice (Pin Stripe) Bowl in Yankee Stadium. Then I can't fault any player with NFL prospects from opting out. It was a joke last time. But hopefully we are in NC or somewhere else warm.
It wasn't frozen. Temp was 39. Above average warm weather leading up to the game if anything made it too muddy. It was a total joke. The field conditions in Yankee Stadium were terrible and unsafe for the players. Shitty sod over frozen turf. Similar issue with the game in the Rate Bowl in Phoenix. The Gophs deserve a game not played on another crappy baseball field.
Would make a lot of sense for Joyner to come back. He is probably a fringe NFL guy right now but with another year of experience could work his way up in the draft rankings.Ryan Burns said today that he's strongly considering coming back for his last season
Outside chance at the single season reception record?Sure there will be a few but in general our guys tend to play more often then they chose to sit out when it comes to bowl games.
Ersery, especially after the injury, would make a lot of sense as an opt out. My guess is Jackson plays. Will be interesting to see what guys do but my guess is most will elect to play.
Nope.unfortunately we have zero that should hold out for this bowl game. I would assume most of the dudes who are on the edge should play against another good team and hopefully make the combine with how they do in the bowl game. Taylor next year is a different story, he will be drafted
I’m seeing Joyner graded around 100-130 now (3rd-5th round prospect). I think he will improve his stock at combine and once teams dig in more to the tape. I hope he comes back but I’d be surprised.Would make a lot of sense for Joyner to come back. He is probably a fringe NFL guy right now but with another year of experience could work his way up in the draft rankings.
I’m ready for the CoVid extra year to be over the kids staying now generally were young enough they wouldn’t have played much anyhow and it suck for the kids coming up who lose out on opportunity because 23-25 year old guys are still playing college ball. Howard is going to be really good. I am looking forward to seeing him more. Smith really developed this year and will be a monster in 25. Pair those two with Eastern and then fill in from there and it could be quite something. If Joyner and Eastern come back on top of Logan-Redding, we'd be set for next year. That would be a hell of a defensive line.
