Which game should Croft be phased in to split time?

With all due respect... Leidner is NOT the issue with this football team.

I hope you're just asking this question more as a means to get our backup some game reps and not that Croft is the guy next year and the reason we haven't won this year.

Leidner is better in every statistical category than last season. The difference between last season and this season can be summed up by the following:

1) Offensive Line Play
2) No big play threats - Cobb & Maxx
3) Injuries
4) Lack of Turnovers forced

I have no issues with Croft gaining experience, but I still believe that Leidner gives us the best chance to win football games, and to the dismay of many should probably start his senior season. Give the guy a healthy offensive line, some skill position weapons and he'll be just fine.

I agree that Leidner is not the main problem with this team, and I actually thought he looked pretty sharp the last two games. That said, the bold is just not true. Yards per attempt is down more than a full yard from either of his first two years, his TD:INT ratio is the worst it has been in all three years, and his rating, Raw QBR, and adjusted QBR are all the lowest they have been in all three years.

I'll admit I don't watch much Minnesota football, but is there a chance that Croft is "injured" and the staff plans on applying for a medical redshirt? Has he played less than 30% of the season?

Hoke was famous for this...

At this point I think the answer is no because he's still dressing for games. I think the criteria is that the player has to be in a position where they can't play, i.e. they shouldn't be dressing, and couldn't travel. That said I am by no means a medical RS expert so I could be way off.

I really haven't seen this staff do the "injury" stuff. For the most part I think they've all been legit. Frankly we've got enough no quote injuries that we don't need to fabricate any! :)

He has only played in 2 games so he's eligible from that standpoint.

I was at the Nebraska game. Unless it was one of the many 5 yard outs and running back screens, Mitch was throwing plenty of inaccurate balls. If you're playing a reasonably competent pass defense (which Nebraska is not), those downfield passes behind the wide open receivers usually get broken up.

Was shocked not to see Croft come in in the fourth quarter when the game was clearly decided. Add me to the list of Gopher fans who can't figure out what kill was thinking removing the redshirt.

Also, I will say that Nebraska's OC called a pretty nice game. Lots of misdirection with the run-pass mix to keep a good defense off balance. They showed they're a better team than their record indicates.
