7. Minnesota Golden Gophers

Returning Production: 62% (No. 40 overall)

Offensive: 50% (No. 83)

Defensive: 73% (No. 11)

Minnesota's defense was a takeaway machine last season. The Golden Gophers also returned 73% of that defense, which racked up 17 interceptions. Still, Minnesota loses veteran QB Max Brosmer to the NFL and must adapt to a younger signal caller. All signs still point to a repeat performance from Minnesota, at least defensively.

I think we are now in a repeating pattern with Fleck's Gophers. Decent team every year. If the breaks and ball bounces go well, you get 2019. If the "woulda coulda's" are at a high percentage, you get 2023. Six wins is now the basement. Anything lower than that is a calamity. 8 wins is likely but not guaranteed on a year in and year out basis. 10 wins on occasion. Better than 10 wins is at least possible.

When you consider the growth and number of stellar programs in the B1G, this level of sustained team performance is a big step up from recent U of M systems.
