FOT, I actually respect your posts and contributions (which is rare-there are only a few decently credible posters on this site); however, there are some flaws in that thought.
The injury to Walker and the redshirt by Osenieks are very very minimal in comparison to other problems this season. Our largest problem has been guard depth. To respect the problem, you have to find the reason. The reason for Devoe transferring is hard, because part of it has to do with his own egotism, yet the other part has to do with Tubby. Furthermore, the one thing that really bothers me on this site is that NO ONE talks about the departure of Cobbs. He obviously wasn't a large contribution last year, but still played 10+ minutes a game on a tournament team. He is significantly better than our current PG options (at PG), and would have been able to fill the gap at least as a distributor this season when Nolen went out (and we could finally bench Mav). He DID transfer because of Tubby. Additionally, the failure of the staff to recruit any decent back court depth is a HUGE problem. Teams have to be prepared for injuries, and this team was not.
Also, in regards to going back...I'm judging purely on performance and the product that we have had to watch. They are not good.
My simple point was to wait until the season's over to see if it is worse than last year. It MAY turn out that way. The past month has been awful. The first 3 months (16-4) were pretty good.
Walker was a key loss. Osenieks, too. Imagine having a good shooting F.
Cobbs left for Calif. This year, Calif lost a frosh G (much higher rated than Cobbs) to transfer because HE didn't like how Calif HC Montgomery used HIM. And Calif went on NCAA probation, too.
The team had a starting PG and solid back-up PG until mid January. Neither is available now.
