I drank too much Kool-Aid in the last 24 hours. It's the off season. Time for a really stupid comment. The Gophers return to the glory years only rivaled by our championship years starting this year.

Let the mockery begin.

My reasoning, if you can call it that, is quite simple. 10,000 fans at a spring game. Solid recruiting. Retention of players. Year over year draft choices. Real wide outs. Team speed. Can win attitude. Progressive development. No huddle wrinkle. Depth at qb. Walk ons. Coaching. My enormous brilliance (please -- picks welcome).

It's brick by brick.

First: Establish identity of hard nosed defense, power running, and difference making special teams. Established IMO in season finale against the fighting zookers in 2011

Second: Establish relevance with bowl berth. Established 2012.

Third: Beat an opponent you are not expected to compete with, a top 25 helmet school with tradition. Established 2013 v Nebraska.

Fourth: Earn a winning record in the B1G, compete for a division title, finish in top 4th of B1G. Established 2014.

Fifth: Win a division title, compete for rose bowl berth in B1G championship.

Sixth: Win B1G

Seventh: Earn berth to college playoffs

Eighth: Win Natty.

1-4 are established, from here on out the expectation will be that we are a competitive program that will win 7-9 games each year for the duration.

The fifth brick IMO occurs in the next 2 years.

After that there are several smaller bricks that will need to be put in place to support a true B1G title run or further:

Facilities upgrade: In progress, probably finished within 2 years.

Recruiting coup: I'd argue we're on the right track this recruiting season, although a program changing player is probably what we'd need.
An RGIII, Micheal Vick, Ladanian Tomlinson, Micheal Crabtree, etc. A player that elevates the national perception of our program through his play.

I know there are people screaming that we must beat wisky, but that is simply a step to the next brick. Nobody cares but us and badger fans. Nonetheless it's the only way for the program to garner attention locally which is important.

I believe now that in my lifetime I will see the gophers in pasedena, which is a very cool thing. Whether that occurs under Kill or another coach who knows, but considering where this program was(my lowest moment was OSU 2010) and where it can be now the build is impressive.

We'll know where there when we can equal the Ladies Hockey team. 10 losses in 4 years. Granted hockey plays nearly 4 times the games that football does per season. If the football team could accomplish that, we'd be a happy bunch. If we could accomplish the 3 National titles in 4 years the Ladies hockey team has done, well...

Year 9 of the jerry kill era. Our first CFB Playoff.

...just a guess.

You can't start a dynasty until you win a championship. Dynasties are for rulers.

It would be cool to have an All American backfield too

I wouldn't worry about dynasties. I just want to see the Gophers play in the Rose Bowl again. If that comes after a conference championship, great! Of course, in the new playoff system, a B1G championship might be enough to get the Gophers in the national playoffs. Now, that would be irony - Gophs win the conference, and don't play in the Rose Bowl. I wouldn't complain if that happened.........OK, I'd complain a little.

I overhead a conversation in Auburn this week complaining about fan support because they only had about 55,000 at their A game (spring game). Not ripping your post because I love the enthusiasm, but 10K at a spring game should not be used a checkpoint.

I remember having 55,000 in a rivalry game once so we got that going for us.
