I was over on campus today and saw no signs of Cal practicing at TCF or ar the football complex (although I did see Cupito and Tony Brinkhaus shopping at the Goldy's Locker Room in the stadium) and that got me wondering about Cal's practice schedule. Then I got back to the office and read the thread about them being at the Famous Dave's at the MOA. They may be staying at a hotel in that neck of the woods.

In an article about Cal's travel plans, the following was written:

"The Bears will practice earlier in the day than usual Thursday, then take their charter flight in the evening, arriving in Minneapolis around 11 p.m. It also will allow Cal to hold its Friday walk-through around the same time as Saturday's kickoff.

"We'll still have our walk-through and the meetings that we typically have at the hotel. It won't be anything different," Tedford said."

I know that it is rare/never that a team practices on Sunday - maybe some film work. And I'm guessing that they had all their normal practices on Monday - Wednesday. But it sounds like their normal Thursday practice was abbreviated and on a different schedule and possibly no practice today (firday) other than a simple walk-through.

This could all mean that the Gophers have had an extra day and a half of practice time over Cal. Every little advantage helps.

Go Gophers, Rah!

The day before a game teams usually just do a walk-through (this would be all the Gophers do too). The U of M has to make TCF Bank Stadium available for the visitors to do their walk through and no Gopher coaches can be present during their time on the field.--I only know this because I toured another team's facilities with a friend a couple weeks ago but couldn't go on the field because the opponent was doing their walk-through.

From the article you quoted it sounds like Cal would have done their walk-through at the stadium at 11:00 am ("It also will allow Cal to hold its Friday walk-through around the same time as Saturday's kickoff.").

Cal buses

When I was at the luncheon, I saw some Cal personal and some buses. I did not see any players.

Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz, who is an honorary member of the Cal football team and an occasional on the field reporter for radio broadcasts, posted this picture a few hours ago:

I'm pretty confident in saying that one of the teams is staying in Minnetonka. Their U of M "police escort" threw the cherries on and literally swerved in front of me blocking both lanes of ONCOMING traffic simply to allow the buses to turn into the hotel parking lot. Beyond ridiculous.

So, if anyone's looking to put on an impromptu metal concert at about 3am in a parking lot, I can give you a suggestion.

I was at TCF at 10:00 a.m today, and Cal was on the field at that time.
