The first quarter will start out slow, with neither offense doing much. Persa passes for a touchdown at the end of the quarter. The second quarter starts with a turnover by Weber and another score for Northwestern. Down two touchdowns, Weber hangs in the pocket and makes a great pass to Allen for 24 yards, but he's hit hard on the play. Weber leaves the game with what appears to be cracked ribs. Brewster calls for Mortensen to get in there, but realizes the Hutchinson Bomber is no longer with the team. As a last resort, he puts in Gray. From the moment he's on the field at QB, Gray turns the offense into a multi-dimensional force. Gray is running, he's passing, the run game for Kirkwood and Bennett is opened up; it's incredible. By the middle of the fourth quarter, it's close, but the Gophers are up 24-21. But wait, what's this? Weber is warming up on the sideline. On the Gopher's next series, Weber runs out to the huddle amid cheers of the 50,000 Gopher faithful! You hate to say it's Willis Reed-like, but it really is something to behold. On the first pass play for the Gophers, Weber stares down Gray running up the sideline and is intercepted. The cornerback takes it to the house and puts the Wildcats in front 28-24. With under two minutes remaining, Weber stands strong in the pocket once again, but is hit and fumbles. Once again, the defender takes it all the way in for a score, 35-24. After a nice return by Stoudermire who has quit and rejoined the team three times during the game, Brewster calls on Weber to kneel three times to close it out.
Final: Wildcats 35, Gophers 24
