Ideally for me it would be:

A shut out/ at least two sacks, Score minimum one touchdown per quarter, preferrably two, while playing base offense. At least two long/ sustained drives, and excellent special teams play all around.

Perhaps more realistically:

Hold them to 10 points or less, two sacks 2 to 4 tackles for a loss, Score 24 or more points, average 40yards a punt, and NO big plays given up on special teams.

I'd like to see Gray throw for over 200 yards with 60% + completion rate.

I want to see Hageman dominate.

I want to see our defensive ends causing havoc.

This season, if Hageman is really good, Gray can pass accurately and we can rush the passer. . .it's going to be a fun season.

I would really like to see an ass whooping. I know Illinois was one last year, but I truly think they had 0 desire to even be there. I'd settle for a win though. Just please no more wtf?!? games.

I believe that its unlikely that we will play a good game every week. It would not bother me to see us struggle, but win. Then improve every week from there. Go Gophers!

Gray completes 65%, runs for 100 yards. Running backs combine for 250 yards, with whoever is starting going off for 120. Defense gets 2 takeaways with no more than 10 points given up. Punters average 45 yards per kick, field goal unit hits one from 40+ yards.

Anything that gets us a W.

More specifically, I would love to see the Defense get some good pressure on the quarterback and get some sacks. I would also love to see the secondary get at least one interception.

Gray throws for over 250 yards while rushing for 100. The run game takes over the second half and consistently runs out the second half.

All of the above PLUS....we need to pull off Ski-U-Mah.

I'm in Section 103, so the "Mah" part is covered. Everyone else better have the "Ski" and "U" part.

The first game is going to be a bit sloppy. Think back to MTSU. We dominated that game but still barely won.

I want to see flashes:
Gray hitting a receiver in stride on a good read.

Gray being efficient, checking down or taking off rather than forcing things.

One WR with more than 4-5 catches would be a good sign.

One RB with more than 10 carries.

Picking up 3rd/4th and shorts consistently against a mountain west team. I think back to NMSU last year and getting stuffed on the goal line. Not a good sign of things to come when your BCS Oline can't bully non conference opponents.

One breakaway play 40+ yards and a touchdown.

On D:
Multiple sacks
An INT
Holding up against the run, if UNLV can run it on us we will struggle this year against the power teams.
I'd like to see Beal play.
I'd like to see Cockran flash somehow.

Constistent and solid punting/kicking/returns

AND A DAMN W.

To see the Gophers dominate a team they should dominate.

Go Gophers.

Obviously the number one thing is just win, baby. But if I could pick some icing to go on the cake, it would be for Gray to put up some video game like numbers that generate buzz both locally and maybe even a little bit nationally. The casual sports fan needs to given a reason to talk about Gopher football at work on Friday morning after the game.

103 is the U. 203 is Ski and 104 (the largest section) is Mah. With you in 103 we have everything covered and we need to pull it off early and often. As I stated before, I think on UNLVs first offensive huddle we get going.

I would also like to see a good tailgate, smart aggressive defensive play, and few WTF moments.

I want to see the offense move the chains consistently, and average > 4 yards per carry.

I want to see Gray have that "zip" on the ball.

I want the defense to get some stops on 3rd down, and not give up a 1st on anything greater than 3rd and 10.

I don't want any major injuries - we're too thin to lose guys right off the bat.

Most of all, a W. After last season, being 1-0 ... regardless of score ... would feel nice.

This is what I would like to see from our team.
*Someone other than Gray rush for more than 100 yards or a combination of two or more backs rushing for significantly more yards than Gray.
*Few if any dropped passes
*A couple sacks
*A couple turnovers
*Four or more touchdowns
*No shanked punts

Would you settle for no punts at all?

Some of you have really high hopes for a first game of the season. Given what we've seen the last few years, why don't we focus on the small things.

-No missed extra points
-No missed field goals, 27 yards or less
-All MN punts to have gone at least 20 yards
-No UNLV 60+ yard pass plays for a td with the closest Gopher being at least 10 yards behind him. Lets cut it to 5.
-Do not allow the UNLV qb or any rb to break a UNLV single game rushing record.

First and foremost, a W.

After that, I'm more general. No stupid penalties. No big plays given up on defense. Crisp (even though the weather will be more crispy than crisp) execution on offense. I'd just like to see them take control and keep control. If I had more specific wishes, they'd likely reflect Bob_Loblaw's. It would be nice to see Gray establish himself as one of the better dual-threat QBs in the country and for Hageman to throw bodies all over the place on defense.

Given the fact that the opposing QB is making his first ever start, I'd like to see us rattle him and make it look like it's his first NCAA start. Nightmares of Andrew Manley looking like Tom Brady run through my mind.

A rout by the Gophers. Hopefully it establishes that we can beat the teams we should and with authority.

Okay. - How about a free hot dog to start with....(Monitors please feel free to move this to the $25 offer with the free hot dog and coke string f you feel it belongs there.)

Precision. Execution. Crisp movement. Hardly any missed assignments.

Basically, think to myself during the game, "This is a REALLY well-coached team."

Score 30+ points, something not accomplished in 12 games last year.

Speed - besides being the best movie of all time, the Gophs need to show that their overall team speed has improved. I want to somebody who can make a catch and pull away from the pack of defenders, somebody who can gain an extra 3 yards with a quick speed burst, somebody who can break on the ball and get a INT or breakup, somebody who can make a Big 10 game winning tackle by running down an opponent, etc . . .

i'm excited to see how the offseason treated Jones, Stoudamire, Q, and the rest of the team . . . BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER!!!

In addition to my previous post, I would like to see beautiful women dressed in minimal clothing throughout the stadium. This should have been first on my list.

Here is what I am looking for: A rare win where the Gophers lead the entire game. The kind of win where after it is over you say to yourself "that was easy." I used to enjoy those types of wins during the pre-conference season. Even crappy teams have been staying close or beating the Gophers in the pre-conference schedule in recent years. I'd like to see this finally reverse itself with a laugher over a crappy team like UNLV. If the Gophers can start pounding pre-conference opponents, it will start looking like they are ready for the next step. I don't know if they have this in them, but if they do I am going to raise my hopes for the whole year.
