What would this team do without a pair of Monson recruits?

If Nolen had been on UNC, Devoe would've been our starting PG all last season. Chew on THAT!

UNC would have won the Puerto Rico tourney this season and been in the Final Four last season, while the Gophers would have been watching Nolen on TV after losing in the first round (again) to Xavier. Care for some milk with your cookies?

Also, Nolen would probably be the national assists leader because those guys on UNC are encouraged to shoot AND their coach knows how to run an offense.

"What would this team do without a pair of Monson recruits?"

The better more pertinent question would be:

Where would this program be if Dan Monson were still the Gophers' coach?

Please.

The fact is that Tubby is the coach, has been for nearly 4 full seasons, and the best players on the floor are two kids Monson recruited. Telling.

Tubby is the coach. Has been for some time. Monson is gone.

Fact is Tubby is having quite a time winning here, keeping his recruits in the program.

How will the departures of RW, DJ, Cobbs affect the NCAA grad #'s?

Everyone saying Nolen is a bad PG is too enamored with NBA PGs or PGs in a kentucky or UNC system where their job is to slash, create for themselves ass well as dishing to teammates, and play defense if its convenient.

Nolen is the type of player who is IDEAL for tubby's system. great ball skills, great stealer, great at distributing the ball. Does not get flashy or put up huge points, but he does what the system requires. i remember hearing that any and all of nolens points as a PG in tubby's system is just gravy.

Monson recruited Trevor???

I would not go as far as saying nolen and hoff are the best players on the floor. they do however show alot of leadership and are big contributors. if your seniors DONT do this, then you have a problem. its to be expected, its not something out of the ordinary

Simply not true. Nolen does not have great ball skills or great distribution qualities. He just doesn't. He is an excellent stealer. I also disagree with you on Tubby's system. College basketball is won on the perimeter, not in the lane. Fast breaks and 3 pt shooting are the keys. That is why many teams play 3 guards now. I don't know what Tubby's offensive system is to be honest, but with only one guard that can score consistently, any system is in big trouble.

I guess it just depends on what your definition of great is. Two years ago he led the Big Ten in assists/turnover ratio. Last year he was in the top 3 in the conference in assists per game and assists/turnover ratio. At the very least, you can say he's "very good" in those areas.

If Nolen had been on UNC, he wouldn't have gotten ineligible.. chew on that.

So what, exactly are you trying to say? It's Tubby's fault he was ineligible? UNC's coach stresses athletics more? Being away from home would've let Nolen concentrate on academics more?

Or are you going to embarrass yourself by claiming the University of North Carolina has weaker academic standards?

Please...enlighten us.

By the way...it was a joke.

Chief, joking is not allowed on GopherHole.

Please could we have some honesty regarding abortion. We all believe and agree that life begins at birth. That is why we celebrate birthdays. When asked how old we are we respond by counting the time from birth. We do not add 9 monthes to that number. Of course the exception is the anti abortion folks who believe life begins at conception but only as it pertains to abortion. The Catholic Church does not baptise the unborn despite believing that those who are unbaptised cannot enter heaven. Why wait till birth if life begins at conception? I am aware of no legislation that would give deferrments to parents of unborn children. Why wait if life starts at conception? We know that the costs of having a child do not begin at birth. Anti-abortion is not about saving lives although that makes an excellant smokescreen. Anti abortion is about seeing that "bad girls" recieve their proper punishment of an unwanted pregnancy. Abortion allows a girl to engage in sex and "get away with it". This is why those who oppose abortion also find that contraception is unacceptable. It is about enforcing ones beliefs and morals on others.
Regardless of your leanings on this issue...this post has to be the biggest thread hijack I've ever read.

Really? Here are the stats from two years ago. Al was 12th in the Big Ten in assists. Doing nothing and not turning the ball over does not impress me. He also was near last in shooting percentage and only 6th in steals.

From now on, keep "GopherHole" on the left side of the screen and "LiberalHole" on the right side of the screen.

Oh sure. You think you can just delete a post whever you feel like it? Even if you posted in the wrong forum?!?

Your post count went up the second you submitted that post. Not 9 seconds later.

Back to the original post. It's nice that Big Go-F-Yourself throws out a total BS line, and then never participates in the thread to back up his point.

How is this clown not banned by now?
