What guys are out there that would be good hires for us at this point???

Tuberville had an offensive situation similar to Brewster. He ran a new OC in there and switched to the spread. When it didn't take off early, he want back under center and the whole thing was a mess.

I feel like Murray Warmath is just waiting for another shot at taking the gopher nation to the rose bowl.

Bud Grant is out there too! He seemed quite happy to be back on campus. :)

The difference, of course, being that Warmath would not need to be reanimated. Since he's still, you know, alive and all.

DAMNIT, that's what I get for not looking up his wikipedia page before posting.

Bret Bielema might be able to be lured with a 3 million dollar contract.
Can folks who want Brewster canned just stuff a sock in it.

Al Groh would be a good candidate if you hate the Gophers. I think he'd be a good candidate for Wisconsin.

He'd make a fine DC for the new coach. Nothing beyond that.

Natalie Kane as offensive coordinator. Couldn't be worse and much better to look at on the side line.

Dan McCarney

If Maturi were to fire Brew one guy that is on his short list is Dan McCarney. Dan has ties to the Wisconsin program, was the head coach at Iowa State and is now the DC at Florida with head coach Urban Meyer. Dan is a great recruiter like Brew but also has coaching substance.

SRSKSM..shhhhh......as an Iowa fan, I do not want Dan McCarney anywhere in MN....he owned the Hawks when he was at ISU...very good recruiter and a great coach...his name pops up from time to time on "top 5 list if KF ever left Iowa".....how would Gopher nation feel if an ex-hawk became head coach here?

Either way, Brew gets another year....unless there is some sort of scandal or a COMPLETE meltdown in your bowl game.

Good luck in your bowl game, gotta root for all big ten teams heading to bowls.

McCarney was ran outta ISU when they hired their current AD Pollard. Pollard wanted his own hire and convinced the ISU faithful that the grass was greener on the other side of the fence and then they promptly fired him....even as a Hawk fan I was always impressed with McCarney, he always had his players ready to play, McCarney's only problem was that he was fighting an uphill battle (it seemed) at ISU......

New Coach?

How about Jay Leno? He may not win many games, but it sure would be fun to listen to his one-liners during the media press conferences!!:D:D:D

I think that he can coach. Didn;t he have a dust up with a wife (now an ex-wife) that got the Madison or Ames police called out to the house? Probably not a DQ for a job, but it will probably get brought up.

I can't sit by and watch this go on any longer without becoming a member and finally bring some meaningful conjecture to this.

First and foremost Tim Brewster deserves 1 if not 2 more seasons as the Head Coach of the Gophers. I like the players he brings in and I feel like the talent level is growing like we had all hoped when we heard that we were getting a all star recruiter as he was billed. That being said I strongly believe that the spread was a mistake and we have put it where it belongs, in the trash. I will always maintain the main problem with our offense is Adam Weber!!! He was great his Freshman year and made all the throws, since then it has been a gradual freefall in his overall play and I believe his confidence level overall.

I hate that I will be subject to watching his late decisions and mismanagement at the line of scrimage, but Brewster is a loyal guy and will give him the ball for his senior season. Until Weber is out once and for all I don't believe we have the right to vote yea or nay on Tim Brewster and his time at the Head of our little nation.

If I hear one more comment about Tommy Tuberville I will puke, might as well re-hire Mason
If I am subject to McCarney coaching here I will box up all my gopher atire and tell good will to make a pickup

If I could get everything on my wish list however it would be:
Tony Dungy - Instant Top 10 Program Credibility

Marquise Grey(sp?) - As the Starting QB. We haven't seen enough to say he can't be a QB because what I have seen I like, when he forced the ball on his throw in the Iowa game I believe it was because he doesn't get the chance to throw and wanted nothing more than to prove he can, thus a bad decision by a young kid trying to break into the starting lineup.

Seantrel Henderson - In Maroon and Gold, if Brewster can't do here what he promised by holding the top talent in the state I will have serious doubts about what he can do from then on, because I know one guy that wouldn't have ever lost him, Tony Dungy!

Great first post. Welcome.

Everyone else, get nice.

Sid's guy Marc Trestman

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...name-surfaces-in-connection-with-the-raiders/

I remember Sid talking about this guy when the Gophers were looking to get rid of Wacker.

Part of me is encouraged that their is so much anger over this season. The other part of me wonders where many of you were for much of the Mason era where it was obvious progress was not being made. This was yet another typical Glen Mason season. We were 3-5 in the conference, played poor late in the season, and will go to a minor bowl. We'd be 7-5 had we played a Mason cupcake special non-conference schedule, but we're 6-6 because we played Cal. It's the same thing. Brewster has not been so bad that he doesn't deserve to see his first recruiting class become upperclassmen.

Trestman just won a Grey Cup in dramatic fashion. What a comeback!

?

I'd be interested to get a little list going here, are there any "kill shots" ;) out there?

One that pops up for me is Turner Gill, any other ones you guys personally like?

We need to hire what?
