Solid B. Didn’t like to see the tackling issues surface again. Players make plays, but Fleck took responsibility for this after the Purdue game, so I think it’s fair to assign the staff some blame this time too.

We won. It was ugly. Northwestern seemed to be able to adjust to our scheme and play better defensively from the 2nd quarter on and our defense looked pretty awful after that. Thankfully Wisconsin doesn't have a running QB (because that exposed us), and neither does Ohio St (Err.... we are screwed in that one).

I'll give a B. When is it on the players though and not the coach? Perhaps if he didn't coach as well as he did we would have barely one. Who knows. Bottom line is that we won big time despite the poor tackling etc.

C+ They defeated a one dimensional team but the special teams and defense continue to have some issues. That led to an L at Iowa and a game that was never quite out of reach for NU until the 4th quarter.

This.

I know some may think badger fans are tying this...

But, this is an honest take supported by the tape from today. It looked like Mason’s teams trying to tackle on multiple plays in a row.
Took some bad penalties in higher leverage situations as well (like Iowa)

B, since the coaches cannot actually demonstrate proper tackling in a live game.

By that logic we should give coaches the same grade every game since they don’t tackle, pass, run, block, execute the game plan laid out during the previous week?
Just wondering.

B because of the defense letting NW look like a legitimate offense and special teams being awful as usual.
