I thought the fake FG attempt was atrocious. I can't think of a single excuse for faking that FG and/or faking it with that kind of play. If it was 4th and 5 and that was the playcall, I wouldn't have liked the call, but it wouldn't have been so bad. But in that situation, it was a disaster of a call.

I actually didn't like the 4th and 1 call in the 1st quarter either. I don't like the idea of going for it in that situation (pin them deep, Michigan seemed out of sorts on offense at the time), but if we do go for it, why not a QB sneak?

The late FG was an easy call. You make it a two possesion game.

I hated the reverse with Maye in the redzone.

I actually didn't mind the playcalling all game other than those very big calls. I thought they did a nice job of not putting Nelson into really dangerous situations but they still let him play. Michigan's pass defense is scary good, and Nelson had a chance to be successful. I give Limegrover and Kill credit for that.

All in all....C- / D+.

You and I usually think alike and it's no different here. I agree with most of what you're saying. Just a quick comment on the reverse in the end zone: it's a play that if it works, they look like a genius. If it doesn't, it's a bad call. Just shortly after that, I saw Iowa St. score on a similar play in the redzone against Oklahoma. It's a chancy play, that's for sure.

Kill had a pooper game today, he will not admit it but he and Limegrover had bad days today. They need to fix the 3rd down conversion rate, that is there biggest downfall of the year.
I will agree, the team was prepared and played hard, we do lack depth and talent enough to be able to make mistakes and overcome them. To many mistakes today by the whole group,
fans(not enough showed up), team and coaches. Was just a crappy day at the bank. Things will get better, at least the team is competitive and can win some of the situations they are in.
I don't doubt the effort at all you can tell the Gophers are playing hard and want to win. We have good reason to be peeved at the coaches they let the kids down as much as the execution issues with
some poor decisions and clock management.

Maybe it's time to fire Clayes and Limegrover. If we learned anything from Tim Brewster it's that having a new coordinator every year really gives us a tremendously fresh look. Don't give them time to teach these young kids and work their system. Get em out the door. That's how good football programs do it. Nelson will do just as good as Weber with 4 coordinators during his career. Consistancy is overrated. I suppose you going to tell me Kill turned around SIU and NIU by continuity and patience. C'mon.

I love it. They convert that fake FG and Kill is a hero! They are not good right now and need every gimmick play in the book to win. Love the fake FG call but hate the long developing run on 3rd and 1

I get that you're still behind Kill. I'm behind him too. But you have to be kidding when you say you liked that fake FG try. That play had NO CHANCE to succeed. NO CHANCE. Well maybe one chance. If the defender had broken his leg and fell to the ground as the ball was snapped it would have had a chance.

100% agree

Remove your heads from the place you defecate from and watch the game. The team was well-prepared and is playing inspired, which makes up for the fact that the talent is young, but improving. Nelson will win a Big 10 title before he's done, but he was a little off on some deep throws that could have been big plays. Face it folks, Michigan hasn't dominated this series by accident. These teams both have tradition: Michigan's is winning, Minnesota's is losing. The Gophers are making marked progress, typical of Jerry Kill's entire career. Broaden your focus and view, believe and support this staff, and you will be greatly rewarded!

You ladies are precious. You think that we are that much further along this year to actually be able to beat Michigan! Just precious. I love you all for thinking so positively and reacting accordingly with a missive on the coaches.

The coaches had the team prepared. That was evident by the 1st quarter of play. What we don't have yet is depth of experience and depth of talent. That will take time. Go ahead, blame the coaches for pulling out all the stops after they were down by 14. Go ahead. Blame them for throwing all the plays and the kitchen sink into the mix. They did so because we are at least 2 years away from being competitive with Michigan. So, give it a rest. Enjoy the rest of Saturday and be ready for next week.

I enjoyed the play calling. It made the game more interesting and enjoyable.

+1

I like the adjustments they the coaching staff have made to adding two backs in to the play calling and putting the QB under center at times. I really like how hard Kirkwood and Williams run, and the line plays hard both sides of the ball. For the head coach and O coordinator, especially having the gutts to put Nelson and Roderick Williams jr into the games that takes some stones and is wise to try and keep winning. On the defensive line and secondary they have improved from game to game but break down on a few critical plays. Michigan got some calls they did not deserve yesterday
and that holding not called penalty right in front of the Referee and the ticky tack pass interference call on Shabazz were game changing plays.
They new players and coaches have given this team some life after injury's. We were missing AJ Barker yesterday one of our better play makers so I did not have a lot of expectations of beating Michigan.
Just because people have complaints or disliked some of the play calling doesn't mean we are all down on the coaches. The team had plenty of opportunity's to make some plays that did not work out.
They will watch this game and be mad and realize they had the opportunity to beat Michigan. Everyone can be a disappointed and it doesn't make them an expert, just a fan.
3rd down conversion rates for the defense and the offense have to improve, kids have to get confidence that they can convert on those 3rd downs, this is not stating anything that anyone with plain eyes cannot see. Gophers are better, I'm optimistic about the future, Michigan has a really stout defense and that #47 was all over the field making plays. In the Red Zone those guy's really stiffened up and made it hard for the Gophers to score. It was encouraging that the Gophers played physical and hard against the Michigan Wolverines. I take no satisfaction or moral victory's from that but
am encouraged that the Gophers will improve and get better from year to year.

Four people gave the coaching staff an "A". All Michigan fans or Iowa and Badger supporters?

First off, I think it was a terrible play call in that situation. But I also think the play actually did have a chance if Nelson would have ran and the pass was thrown down field.
