For me, its the fact that I can't take my son to the bathroom during a game without worrying that some Cougar is having sex on the bathroom floor with some drunken idiot while their partners are in the stands waiting for them to return with nachos.

Lois Feldman is actually the only thing I like about Iowa.

i don't hate Iowa

love the covered bridges. Have you enjoyed Winterset's Fall Festival? Did you know IA produces 25% of the worlds corn.

I feel as though my list will be shorter if I just list the things I don't hate about Iowa............... I guess I like corn...

Their stuck in the Reagan years uniforms. I love a consistent brand, but why pick that era of uniforms to standardize on.

Huh, of all things to 'hate' that seems like the weakest. Who wouldn't wanna be stuck in the Reagan years?!

Not beating the crap out of them for the last twenty years

Quite frankly, that it even exists as a state in the Union. Boy did Congress drop the ball on that one way back when. I mean what a pointless, disgusting, overweight, foul smelling, desolate landscape, inbred, piece of $hit place. When I think about it Iowa seems to serve virtually no redeeming purpose whatsoever. The entire state should be swallowed up by the earth for all time. :p

Oh and Go Gophers! Ski-U-Mah!

Everything ... but mostly their fans. They are rude, obnoxious, uncivilized, ignorant, disrespectful, and have highly selective memories. They are bad winners and sore losers -- they are in-your-face obnoxious when they win, but yet they run and hide when they lose.

We heard pretty much the same thing from USC fans in Los Angeles a few years ago and Husker fans last year. Even the Illinois fans we met in Champaign last weekend hate Iowa fans. I'm convinced that pretty much everyone hates Iowa for pretty much the same reasons!! We are definitely not alone!

I went to a wedding in Iowa a year or so ago. Classic small town Iowa, but with a pretty decent place to host a wedding reception.

Me and my wife sat down at a table and struck up a conversation with a local couple. After a few minutes my wife asks, "So do you guys have schools down here?"

I don't think we'll be getting a Christmas card from them.

I lived in IA from '92 to '97. I agree about Hawkeye fans. But, they can be funny. When IA would lose a FB game, I would always try to listen to the post-game call-in show on their radio network. People would go nuts, complaining about every aspect of the game. Made Gopher hole look tame by comparison.

In all honesty, I have to give IA credit for the passion of their fan base. Whatever you might think about IA, they support their team - and have done so more consistently than MN supports the Gophers. Let's face it - the Gophs have trouble selling out a 50,000 seat Stadium.

The easier question to OP is, "What do you like about Iowa?"

Their pigs are cute.

I used to hate holiday road trips through Iowa, crawling at 35MPH on an icy windswept I-35 hoping we wouldn't spend the night in a ditch.

Better a night in a ditch than a room in Iowa City, my friend.

Vodka Samm could show you a wonderful time in Iowa City. I would suggest getting checked for STDs the next day but a fun evening nonetheless.

Iowa City's gotta be better than Story City

What do I hate most? That poor Floyd is trapped down there. Hopefully we change that on Saturday!

Minnesotans have a BIG choice on teams to support up here. There's no comparision and we're pretty lucky ...our passion for sports is split amongst and between the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA and all the Big Ten Sports. In addition we have all the local MIAC sports. Let's face it...if it was a Gophers-only show in this state..things would be different. Plus winning helps.

Really wish that there was something positive to say about their fans. When they're winning...they are everywhere and loud. When they are loosing...they are silent and can't be found. I'm sure that they do have some nice folks as fans...but the ones that come to the games here in Minneapolis are usually the drunk and obnoxious ones.

The first post says:

The Hatred from the Gopher types is flattering. Lots of it on the GopherHole and just in general. They seem to have an obsession with us. Its worse than ISU.

The funny thing is gopherhole has two threads out of 40 on the front page that talks about the hate of Iowa. I think this guy needs to look up the definition of obsession. They have one thread making fun of MN and another thread talking about how much we hate them. Is there really that much difference in the "obsession"? Get over yourself idiots.

Second post includes:

I believe at least their fans have always considered Iowa their biggest rivalry.

Of course for a majority of our fans, that is not true at all.

They're trying to downplay the rivalry like Wisconsin fans are doing. But if we win 8 out of the next 10, they'll be singing a different tune.

I hate that their state cares more about the Hawkeyes than our state cares about the Gophers.
