What did you think if the gold helmets in action today?

Yes. I should have pointed that out. The old unis were a metallic gold.
 

I think they should have a gold chrome helmet along with gold jersey and gold pants. That would be legit.
 



I loved them. Reminds me of these, which are my favorite Gopher helmets.

Ditto! The looked rather "over-kill":rolleyes: during warm ups but as the game went on, they had a sort of mystic to them. Almost like; "Who are those guys playing the team in white?? Oh yeh, that's our Gophers!"

'Our gold' is a great accent color, but not a great primary color.

I did have a yellow golf bag once though.
 




They are the GOLDEN Gophers, not the MAROON Gophers. If you don't like the gold, get over it and move on.
 

I think far-and-away our best combo is Maroon helmet, gold jersey, maroon pants, but yesterday's were actually pretty solid. They're probably my second favorite home combo.
 





Thanks guys. A lot. Talking to the 47% on this poll. We have hundreds of anti-gold posts all over this board. I would like to see gold be our primary color, that's all. Hence the name...

By anti-gold I assume you mean helmets. Why are you so upset that some/many prefer the maroon helmets? The school colors are maroon and gold. Neither one is above the other.
 

I think I'd prefer a slightly darker more "old gold" gold rather than bright yellow, but they were really spiffy.

Arizona State has worn 4 different helmets through 5 games.

Only once did they have gold helmets, maroon jerseys, and gold pants.

The gold helmet may be considered their "main" one but they've gone Oregon as of late and you never know what they will come out in. They have black, gold, maroon, an abstract black/gold, and white helmets for sure.

Our gold helmets were nice, IMO.
 

I liked the gold helmets, but think at home they'd fit better with maroon jerseys and white pants instead of the maroon jersey and gold pants set up from yesterday.

I assume the arguments being made by some postes are reflective of the team being the Golden Gophers

I believe the 'Golden' part was added by a media type......it may have been Halsey Hall.......someone that enjoyed alliteration.
 


I think they are a nice change of pace, but I would stick with the maroon helmets as our standard

Maybe 30 straight W will rub off on the Gophers. They looked very Bison to me also. Got the win, keep wearing them.

Someone's been reading Wikipedia...

The “Golden” adjective has not always been a part of the Gopher nickname. During the 1930s, the Gophers wore gold jerseys and pants. Legendary KSTP radio announcer Halsey Hall coined the term “Golden Gophers” in reference to the team’s all-gold attire on the field.

None of the above because the maroon helmets are awesome for home games, but I would like to see the gold version in all road games to revive the "Golden Gopher" moniker.
 

The only thing I know for sure about gold helmets - we are undefeated when we wear them. I like it!
 

I'm in love with the maroon helmets, so I prefer them. Like others, at first look I couldn't help think of mid-'90s ASU with Jake the Snake at QB.
