Well, by golly, we did end up losing exactly seven guys off the D.

IMO (obviously) good chance MN is better along the DL in 2020. Excited to see Schad, Carter, Teague, Mafe, Otomewo, and maybe one of the redshirts make an impact. Excited to see Chidi’s son Mayan - good bloodline. There also seems to be one guy that comes out of left field a little bit eg Renner.

A guy you don't mention, Hickcox, could be the guy who surprises, ala Renner, on the d-line...he was in the rotation this year.

I think they like what they have seen from Carter and Cheney at defensive tackle as well...

D-line interior should be okay...

I think the 2nd biggest loss on defense will be Williamson.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this. I thought Williamson was pretty good in run support, noticeably so against Auburn.

An interesting part, at least to me, of S&P+ is how it addresses "returning production on defense." The stat with the highest correlation is "passes defensed" at 0.381. And four out the first five D stats are all related to the defensive secondary. The D stat with the lowest correlation is "defensive line sacks" at 0.126.
