Now I wish I had stayed up to watch Oregon lose. Too bad so sad for the ducks. After Stanford beats them, they'll be out of the playoff for sure.

No chance for MSU now unfortunately. Nebraska needs to run out if the B1G has any hope of having a playoff team.

That's not true. I think they are going to try and emphasize conference championships for the first year or two. If Sparty runs the table I think they have a good shot.

I saw a stat somewhere (trying toverify) that Oregon is 1-11 in the last 7 years when they don't score 30 or more points.

Defence. They haz none.

If Oregon wins out including winning the P12 championship the chances are very slim. Nebraska running the table is still the best chance IMO.

Gotta think that any team with 0-1 losses that runs the table with be in the final four from any Big 5 conference. That will likely mean they beat a team with zero losses at this point getting them the head to head and they will win their conference championship. Technically only four teams have a chance to run the table and win a conference championship (B1G, PAC12, ACC, SEC). I believe that a 0-1 loss Big 12 team and 3 of the other conference champions will be the final four.

So much football to be played. You really can't say that a 1 loss Big 5 team is out at this point. The best thing that could happen for all is if Florida State loses and then B1G champ should be guaranteed with 0-1 loss.

There are technically 40 teams still in the hunt for the final four that have 0-1 loss and are Big 5 teams.

Like Barry Alvarez said about his criteria. If you score 50 in four straight games and you give up 45 in those games are your truly a top team. There are three phases to a team.

It's way too early to determine who will make the playoff. Crazy things can and do happen and we appear to have more parity than years past. No dominant team.

I'm always going to cheer for the teams ranked ahead of Wisconsin just to ensure they don't make the playoff, but in this case it probably shouldn't matter because Oregon won't fall enough and it will strengthen Arizona's claim as well. If the badgers run the table, we'll truly see how much power Barry has on the committee, because he will pull every string imaginable to get them in.

Keep in mind, Florida St and Notre Dame still need to play, so one of them is going to lose. Preferably Florida St since Notre Dame has many other opportunities to lose as well (Stanford or USC). The trick is to see if Oklahoma can get through a not as good Big 12 this year. I'm guessing they do and are the only undefeated team. Which means you'll have lots of 1 loss teams whining.

Don't the committee members recuse themselves if their teams are being discussed? I think I heard on the radio yesterday someone make the same claim about Pat Haden and the CFB analyst said he wouldn't be able to participate during a USC deliberation.

Unless it was a game official's discussion and he didn't agree.

To be honest, I don't know. Believe me, my Wisconsin angst is definitely not grounded in any fact or reality...it's just old fashioned irrational fear and hate.

Is there a recusal policy in place for committee members?

Yes. Committee members will be recused from participating in votes involving a school’s team if they or an immediate family member receives compensation from the school or has a professional relationship with that school. The committee will have the option to add other recusals if special circumstances arise. For more information on the recusal policy, please click [here]. *Link to recusal press release

What are the terms of the recusal policy?

A recused member shall not participate in any votes, nor be present during deliberations involving the team’s selection or seeding, but may answer factual questions about the institution from which the member is recused. The recusal policy is virtually identical to the NCAA men’s basketball committee policy.

There are five games this weekend featuring two teams ranked 19th or higher.

And BYU falls from the ranks of the undefeated. Well assuming so since they are getting pounded and I'm heading to bed.

Illinois and Purdue are both dumpster fires. Ohio State, meanwhile, seems to be finding their stride a bit now that Barrett has had more time.

Beckman should be fired if Illinois loses to Purdue today. Looking like a very real possibility.

It is surprising to see Purdue thumping the Illini as they are. Here's to hoping they beat each other up so that the Gophers can secure a couple wins.

Miss St. crushing A&M now 34-10. Only in the SEC can you see a team go from not ranked to the top 10 in just a few weeks.

OSU blowout of Maryland pretty much confirming East is a 2-horse race.

I'm watching IL and the boilers and it's early in the 4th. Even if Cobb doesn't play next week, I'm guessing by Oct. 25, he will have at least 3,000 yards on the season.

Texas A&M being embarrassed. What a great sight to see.

Texas A&M, you're awesome. Tennessee and Florida, you too. You're awesome. SEC is so awesome.

Florida losing 9-7 to Tennessee. How is their offense so bad? Makes no sense.

Will Muschamp's days in Florida are numbered. I wouldn't be shocked to see them pursue RichRod.
