Week 3 Other Games Thread

Was surprised to see Clemson down to Georgia Tech but it looks like they found their groove and are now up 14-13.

Most of the Big Ten in expected blow outs. Nice seeing Wisconsin get bodied.

Wisconsin is horrible. They'll probably find 1 or 2 more wins, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they didn't win another game this season.
They have a brutal schedule.....so this could definitely be a really long year for them. They play Maryland next week then get a bye week, after the bye.....

Michigan
Iowa
Ohio State
Oregon

That is brutal and couldn't happen to a more deserving team.

1-2 million dollar man...looks so far like a wasted investment. There was a reason why no tears were shed at UT when he bolted.
In his defense he can't play D and doesn't seem to have much of a supporting cast....but yeah, certainly looks like they maybe could have put that money to better use.

They have a brutal B1G schedule this year.
A few notable teams:
Michigan
Iowa
Oregon
Ohio State
Minnesota
Illinois
Indiana
Makes up for those years where their slate almost always included Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Purdue and Illinois and maybe a one game against Ohio St or Penn St and of course us and Iowa.

If this is how bad WI is going to be all year, I don’t see how you don’t fire fickell
Im still trying to figure what Wisconsin is trying to be...my theory is Fickell cant get the players he had at Cinncy into Wisconsin....unless those academic standards have been relaxed. Whatever it is, they've lost their blueprint.

Think it’s a relative thing. One you’re nearer to spread offense, mobile players in Cincinnati vs recruiting grounds locally are ground and pound at Wisconsin. So drop in talent plus local recruits that don’t fit your system and you’re having to reach more (see trying to land a transfer qb every year you’re promising the starting job) and you get this. He also has led a regression on defense every year which is the more puzzling part but some may be tied to loss of Leonard. Regardless I think the Brewster comps are actually reasonable. Gets some splashy commits but no one fits a system and you can’t outathlete teams in the B10 or SEC when you’re wisconsins level

Fickell's buyout is only $8 million. "He gone" if they only win 5 games.
Do you have a source for this figure? Lots of reporting that the buyout was over $40M as of the end of last season. His initial contract, I think, guaranteed 80% of the remaining amount. I would think that if the buyout was reduced from something like 80% to 20% it would be newsworthy, but I haven't seen that reported anywhere and the Wisconsin media I follow routinely argue that he's likely to get another year (absent a catastrophic season) because the buyout is so high. The last figures I saw indicated that the buyout was reduced gradually over time to $8M but that figure was not reached until the end of the 2029 season.

Not surprising to me. Tech is good. They are well coached. Hired the right guy in Key. And King is tough as nails at QB. They are an 8-9 win team. Might win 10 if they pull this out today.

Clemson with a gift of a PI call and they tie it up. Tech ball with 3 min left trying to pull off the upset

Edit: Under review

Kent State, a 23 1/2-point underdog at home to Buffalo and on a 23 game losing streak against FBS teams and a 16 game conference losing streak just scored to take the lead with 2:30 left. Game is on CBS Sports Network.

AI told me $8 million. Is it possible that AI is'nt always correct😆

Oregon is overrated. They are not a top 5 team. Oklahoma St is the worst team in the Power 4. Credit the NW coaches, they are getting better.

Why would you run the ball, use your last timeout, run the ball again on third down, and make it so your FG unit has to sprint out there and rush the field goal?

Georgia Tech should be 11-0 when they host Georgia in Atlanta November 28th. Their schedule is very favorable.

Looks like Buffalo pulled off the win in the end. Northwestern State meanwhile is down 21-0 against Cinncy in the first quarter.

Early Big Ten in the books:
  • Maryland 44-17 over Towson
  • Nebraska 76-7 over Houston Christian
  • Michigan 63-3 over Central Michigan
  • Alabama 38-14 over Wisconsin
  • Oregon 34-14 over Northwestern

My favorite bets of the day are USC -20.5 @ Purdue and Mississippi State -38.5 vs Alcorn

Alcorn lost to Northwestern State, for God's sake
