Week 13 Other Games Thread

If the Cowboys lose to the Sooners, then TCU will have lost the Big 12 on an all or nothing 2 point conversion when they could have tied the game with a PAT against the Sooners last week.

That's the kind of stuff 2-6 teams do.

All our nothing sucks when is nothing. But universally praised when it works.

That's the argument, but I don't buy it. Throw away a meaningless season on a two point conversion. Don't risk throwing away your conference title and playoff aspirations on one.

Great day of football today. Pulling for:

Gophers
Ohio State
Sparty
Oklahoma State
Ole Miss
Stanford
Florida State
Auburn
South Carolina
Air Force

Embrace the chaos.

Back in the non-OT era, it was defensible to do what Tom Osborne did in the Orange Bowl to avoid the horrible tie.

Otherwise going for two like Patterson did is a horrible idea. Having said that, the only play call worth doing is a very heavy play action call with some sort of roll out or bootleg with a real run/pass option. I still hate the decisions. These coaches seem to outsmart themselves often with this decision.

The likelihood of the other team missing a kick or getting a holding penalty at the 25 yard line in OT is high enough, on the road or not. It is better to play on and give your self a chance to win or give the other team a chance to screw up.

I think it just depends on the situation. Historically, the chances of converting a 2 point conversion is 40-45%. And if you go into OT, you have to figure you win about 50% of the time.

But if you're in a shootout type game where the offenses are playing a lot better than the defenses, you have to figure your chances of converting the 2 point conversion is greater than 50%.

I bet the percentage is significantly higher you win in OT when the opposing QB is concussed and the opposing offense is a dumpster fire as a result.

Gotta love rivalries.

Only watching MSU-PSU during timeouts/commercials, but MSU looks beatable. I'd feel so much better with Ohio State going to the B1G Championship game, there's no amount of flukes that could occur that would enable Iowa to beat them.

Michigan St. taking care of business against Penn St.

All field goals in the Iron Bowl so far, Alabama up 12-6 over Auburn.

Looks like one spot could be pretty much locked up for the playoffs. Oklahoma is crushing Oklahoma St 34-10 in the 2nd quarter.

Notre Dame and Stanford is a good one.

Yea the ND/Stanford game is fun to watch.

David Shaw is worse at clock management than Tracy Claeys. There should be well over a minute left.

Who do we want to win this one. Setting notre dame hate aside. Max chaos.

It should be a requirement that every game have a camera down the goal line so there isn't any controversy. He very well may have been short but there wasn't enough evidence to over turn it. Call was going to remain whatever what was called on the field.

Wow what a final minute this is shaping up to be.

Go Gophers!!

Heck of a drive for Stanford to come back and win that.

I was just saying this today. How hard would it be?

Looks like Oklahoma and Iowa/Michigan St have two of the spots locked up. I don't see Florida beating Alabama so they're probably in. Then Clemson gets the last spot if they win. What happens if UNC beats Clemson? I could see it happening.

That TD call may have actually cost Notre Dame. If they call him short, they take the penalty and still have two timeouts left. Stanford would have gotten the ball back with less time left.
