Nittany Lions Wire first out of the gate:

11. Minnesota

Last game: Lost at Purdue, 49-30

Minnesota’s defense was shredded by a Purdue offense that has had more than its fair share of struggles this season. After giving up over 600 yards of offense on the road, Minnesota continues to trend in the wrong direction this season. Minnesota is in danger of not playing in a bowl game at this point.

Previous ranking: 8

Next up for Minnesota: at Ohio State

Wolverines Wire chimes in:

10. Minnesota

Despite a promising middle part of the season where it appeared the Gophers got it together, Minnesota went into West Lafayette and got blown out by what appeared to be a hapless Purdue team. There’s no good way to put it, but if you lose that way to what had been the worst team in the conference for the bulk of the season, you’ve got bigger problems than trying to reach bowl eligibility.

Saturday Tradition chimes in:

11. Minnesota (5-5)

Last week: at Purdue, L 49-30

At one point in this game, Minnesota was trailing 49-23. File this one away as a massive disappointment and a wild letdown for the Golden Gophers in just about ever facet of the game.

Boiler Upload chimes in:

9. Minnesota: (5-5)

Ranking change: Up 1

Week 11 result: 49-30 loss to Purdue

Week 12 matchup: at Ohio State

Ross-Ade Stadium was a house of horrors for the Golden Gophers on Saturday, allowing last place Purdue to have its best showing of the season. The Gophers gave up 49 points, which only Michigan has scored more against them this season. Athan Kaliakmanis threw for a season-high in yards, but the offense fell apart in the second half and couldn't keep pace with the Boilers.

Minnesota has now dropped two in a row and is in a five-way tied for second place in the Big Ten West. The hopes of a bowl game aren't a sure fire thing either, as Ohio State and Wisconsin await the next two weeks.

Go Gophers!!
