Week 0 Other Games Thread

Anyone recall the recruitment of Carson Hansen? Was there any Gopher interest?

That was the class we had Darius Taylor, who is obviously the prize, but we also took Marquese Williams plus Sean Tyler as a transfer.

Iowa State sends its band to Ireland meanwhile Iowa City and Madison are beyond the reach of the Minnesota band.
Some truth to do this perhaps. What I'm wondering though is, did the band parents/students pick up some of the tab for them to travel to Ireland? Or donors perhaps?

Ballsy move by KSU that doesn't pan out. Big mistake from that point on the field.

And touchdown ISU. Kansas State on life support now. Wildcat fans are not going to be happy with Klieman over that 4th down decision.

They should be more bothered that their qb didn’t either wait a half second for his lineman to actually pull or finish the run stronger.

This has been a classic case of one team just fucking up over and over. KSU cannot get out of their own way

And man if the Gophs played in the B12 I’d like our chances to make the playoff like every third year in the new format.

They showed the K State band on the field before the game and there were barely enough members to spell out “CATS” single file. It was so sparse I had trouble seeing what they were spelling.

I think you kick the FG. Three yards is too much to gamble. Force KSU to score a TD.

Shows what I know. ISU is going to knock off KSU again.

Next up: Idaho State vs. UNLV

Fun game, glad I watched the 4th Q!

Not sure who I wanted to root against ... do we recruit more against one or the other? Probably not a ton either way.

Disappointed to learn in this thread that we did not show (more) interest in Carson Hansen. Lakeville South, player of the year. Clearly would've been a player for us. Oh well

Cummings-Coleman, #20 from Coon Rapids is playing CB for Iowa St. Gophers offered him early, but then cooled on him. He does have an attitude, and might not have been a good fit for PJ.
Interesting, I thought he was more of a wr prospect out of high school.

Honestly pretty even imo in recruiting against them. Klieman was at NDSU so has a lot of MN connections still, Iowa State is obviously very close so have MN connections too.

Isn't this the guy who undercut the sideline pass on KSU's long TD pass late in the 4th? Huge error.

Darius Taylor year recruiting class? Don’t think any B1G schools offered.

He’s solid, I wouldn’t start him over Taylor in our offense though. Same thing with Emmett Johnson at Nebraska.

Entertaining game to open the college football season. Both teams (minus the turnovers and miscues) look like they're going to be good this year.
Again, only saw the first half and both defenses looked aggressive. So many unforced errors by the offenses that maybe that is what made them look so good.

The Gophers would be able to compete every year if they were in Big 12. Besides Arizona St nobody is all that good compared to the B1G

@GopherGod what’s so funny about this? You should know better than anyone else. Nebraska is a nobody in the Big Ten, but they had no problem finishing near the top of the Big 12 most years.
