Weather for Lincoln

It's a lock that a large storm system will be moving through the central US this weekend. Round 1 brings showers and storms through Lincoln late Thursday - Friday. The big difference over the last few model runs has been with round 2.

The latest run has round 2 moving further east, leaving Lincoln dry but cooler, with temps around 50. Previous model runs have kept round 2 further west, bringing warmer temps upper 50s - 60s, but another round of showers and storms on Saturday.

It'll be interesting to watch the trends over the next few days.

Great. We were prepared to travel our very fine rain gear. Will probably still do so but it would be nice as butts-in-the-seats for this one to just be cloudy, cooler, but dry.

Agree with MNVC that crappy would be better but just being selfish on this one...

I think everyone would feel better if the weather would be nice. Hopefully the weather geeks can produce a better model as the week goes on.

Always appreciate your weather synopsis.

Our seats will be in the nosebleeds of the new sections but at about the 40. We purchased some very nice NorthFace lined-rain gear a couple of years ago that of course is black. If all this is needed, we'll don our maroon-gold vinyl ponchos to add a dab of real color to the sea of red.

As an aside these new sections are served by escalators to reach the upper deck, which is a very nice stadium amenity. There was a Runza concession up there last time we went. We'll hit that too as a tribute to Nebraskan haute cuisine.

GWG: "It might rain. Or not. Temps cool. Or warmer."

The latest model trends are bringing the 2nd round of what now looks to be a rain/snow mix to Lincoln late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

The good news is the precip looks to end a few hours before game time. The bad news is the clouds and cold temps, 30s into the 40s look to linger throughout the game. Skies are still expected to clear with temps warming into the 50s, but that will likely happen after the game is over.

The wind doesn't look to be a major factor, with gusts maxing out around 25 mph. The same cannot be said for the games played to our east. Scattered rain and wind gusts of 40-50+ mph look likely in Madison, Evanston, Champaign, West Lafayette, and Bloomington right now.

Sounds like there could be some interesting weather factors in play this weekend. Maybe that will be enough for Northwestern to pull the shocker over OSU, though I am not sure there is bad enough weather conditions out there to truly make that one a game.

Still think bad weather favors us against Nebraska.

Ohio St could probably run the ball on 100% of plays and win that game pretty easily.

some wild weather may hurt Purdue and Illinois...those teams have wasted a lot of reps developing a passing game...everyone knows a run game is all you need in the Big Ten West, especially when the gales of November come blowing off the big lake they call Gitchee Gummi

I think bad weather favors us in most games but it's not going to matter against this Nebraska team.

The weather continues to improve for Saturday. The rain/snow mix should now clear out by 3am. Skies will become sunny and kickoff temps will be in the mid 40s, rising into the mid 50s by the end of the game. SW wind of 10-15, with some gusts up to 25 mph.

May be another week before we see air-Tanner...;)
