Weakling Wednesday Final Weekend: Iowa @ Nebraska for the Final "Chair and a Chance"

We're still getting a new coach barring the most shocking Big Ten Tournament victory in history
We'll see. I hope you're right. And realistically, he should be canned even IF there's the most shocking B1G Tournament victory in history. The fact it WOULD be so shocking should get him fired in and if itself.
It's like the morons here getting a boner over winning a couple games. So what?

But I think he's going to be retained. The propaganda blitz propping him up doesnt seen organic to me.

"Poor Ben."

No shot BJ is back barring a miraculous run the B10 tourney championship

Can Iowa throw itself into the mix with a win over MSU? If they do, we'll have a 6-way tie for 11th place on Friday morning.

Looks like MN has the inside track of getting the #11 spot if they beat Rutgers. I'd strongly prefer that because, if they win the first game, the likely opponent in the second game is UCLA and there would be some hope there. The winner of the 12 v. 13 game likely plays either Purdue or Wisconsin who offer little hope.

Seeding is definitely going to be interesting. Whole bunch of teams with very similar records. The good news is (at least good news to those of us that still like watching the team and hoping for victories) that we are in the BTT no matter what happens over the remaining games.

Sure, but beating Rutgers, getting the 11th seed in the BTT, and winning two games there would give us an 18-16 record and make us more attractive to the other tournaments (College Basketball Crown or NIT). If everything falls in place, it's still possible to win 20 or more games this season.

Iowa @ Nebraska on Sunday (11:30 FOX) for the final spot in Weakling Wednesday. Interestingly, the Huskers are by no means out of the NCAA Tournament at-large conversation, but due to the mega-conference era we're now in, the Huskers first must simply qualify for their conference's tournament. ... crazy!

Would really like to beat Rutgers
Of course but I think if the Gophers win, there is a high likelihood they play them again but hard to tell. I don’t want to play the same team twice in a week no matter who they are.

If they beat Rutgers, MN likely gets the 11 spot and the probable opponent is Northwestern in that case (according to that seed simulator anyway). If the Gophers win that game, the probable opponent is UCLA or Illinois if UCLA loses to USC. Hopefully, UCLA wins.

In order to play Rutgers, Northwestern would have to win at Maryland or USC would have to win at UCLA. I guess the latter isn't so unlikely.

It would be a an almost devastating humiliation if Nebraska, 17-9 on February 18th, lost to Iowa at home and missed the Big Ten tournament. Given the way Iowa played against Michigan State in their last game, that result if far from impossible despite the fact that Iowa has struggled on the road this season.

Perhaps an evaluation of Freddie’s tenure is in order.

Here’s the bracket. We play Wisconsin if we win. Get a new coach if we lose.

It would be ironic if Hoiberg, who got the Cornhuskers into the dance a couple times, gets fired and Coyle keeps a never been coach here at Minnesota.

If Freddie can’t win there, no one can. They should stand pat and be grateful he wants to be there.

Fred has been in Lincoln for six years. He's been to one NCAA Tournament (last year).
