Until the end of the year. This meltdown is going to lead to huge attrition for those who have the ability to go elsewhere. All Horton has proven is that Brewster was not the only cause to our woes. It would have been better to let Brewster finish and start a new in the spring.
The team is much, much worse without him. Brewster, for all his faults, had the ability to stay positive and may have been the prefect coach to finish off a 1-11 season (imagine his tearful pre-game speech before Iowa- still would lose 49-7 but they would come out fired up). They would have played hard for Brewster and then we could have a cathartic firing at the end of the year. Maturi could still covertly look for another coach in the meantime..
I figured given the timing of the firing they had something in the works with an unemployed coach, I wonder now if they had a plan. For any employed coach timing is much better at the end of November.
