We need to role with Prince or Dylan

I would bet the Gopher fanbase has the best taste in music of any college football team (based on the local music submissions so far).
Probably because Minneapolis has the best music scene in the US. :)

Well said Papa Nokomis. I have to say that I am sorry for taking on part of your identity with my identity. I will ask the moderators if I can change it.

After Dylan gets them off their seats between the third and fourth quarters, you hit them with another Minnesota Band, The Pines, and stadium officials will probably have to call the riot police to get everyone settled down.

...direct correlation between people singing along to MN songs and teams performance.

That being said, the game should, at least on some level, be fun. Isn't that why we spend our time watching the team. Relax and have some fun.

This is an awesome thread! Even though JK is a country music fan, I bet there isn't a lot of country played on game day. He's all for state pride and I bet he'd be all in to have MN music become part of the experience. Someone needs to suggest this to the decision makers.

The Jets, Highway 101, Bronski Beat, Limited Warranty, Boys Club, Tyka Nelson and Tamara & The Seen.

Was definitely NOT expecting to go through this posting to see a monks reference. Freakin' awesome.

Bronski Beat is local? So many good choices here (love the local country reference with Highway 101 (Moose Lake).

How about the young up and comers Howler? They don't get as much love locally as they do elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure Howler and Strange Names have some of the same people (management?)working with them.

I'm excited for the new Howler album, and I hope they play in town again soon. I've heard Jordan is a nice kid and he's dating Johnny Marr's daughter right?

True. He met her while starting at Johnny Marr's house while the band was in Europe for most of the past year.

So we all agree on the following:
Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone plays after the third quarter
Replacements Unsatisfied plays after any home loss
Only music made by MN artists MN bands play after the first and tv timeouts

Who is going to tell Kaler?

Mark Mallman maybe?

And I can't believe no one has mentioned for the final song of the day/night, Closing Time by Semisonic. I was a fan of Trip Shakespeare back in the day and never knew Semisonic was basically a revamped Trip until fairly recently. lol

I've always wondered why the marketing department hasn't tried to put together a promo clip to play at games featuring celebrities with MN connections like Prince, Dylan, Brock Lesnar, Ric Flair, Decker and Tony Dungy. Not everyone would participate but I would think a few would. Just some kind of pump up 45 second video before the game starts. End it with the Ric Flair woooo!

Sounds like a good compromise. Can Husker Du's New Day Rising Play right before the players take the field. It would have to be turned up to 11.

They kind of do with the opening to Do The Gopher. Not Dylan or Prince fame. But like Nikola Pekovic & J Robinson. They could probably get Decker and Dungy to Do The Gopher.
My favorite was J Robinson and he just stood there with his arms crossed.

Here is a novel idea

How about 2 games a year we have a local band perform like the Superbowl. The marching band can have the other games.

Get the other local bands to play for an hour before the game in a tailgate area in a big tent with booze & beer. Sell tickets and have the tent heated in the cold months.

They want the game day experience to improve that would do it for me.

Wasn't during a game, but Atmosphere played a homecoming show at TCF a couple years ago. It was awesome!

The Twins do this and call it the MN Music Showcase. Local bands do a pre-game concert and then inning breaks throughout the game and lead the 7th inning stretch. I went to the POS game, and it as a lot of fun.

I'd rather they feature the marching band during the game, but bands for tailgating would be fun.

I think Prince or Dylan should be given the stage like a Superbowl. Showcase them baby. Do this during an ESPN game with GameDay on campus.

I know at least one member of the Eagles is from Minnesota. And do any of your old timers remember the band Crow? Evil Woman
