Looking ahead to our season this season to October 17, 2020

One of the HUGE games that I am looking forward to this season is to beat the crap out of Michigan and get our Jug back. Yeah, yeah...it's still 9 months away, but hey never too early to start trash talking about them Womenrines.

Since the game will be at the Bank this year, that will be even more exciting if not THE most exciting home game this year in my opinion. I personally will be flying back to Minny for this game to witness our win. Penn State was my one game that I flew back this past season and Michigan will be my one game this year.

This is a team who is struggling with finding their offense with their first year OC and trying to getting used to their new offense style. This year will only be their OC's second year with this new offense scheme and they lost 4 OL starters, Shane Patterson, no clue who their new QB will be yet, lost their best WR to NFL draft, so I'm liking our odds.

To make this win even sweeter, we'd be 7-0 after we beat Iowa in week 3 and Wisconsin in week 6! Did you guys know that we'd have ALL 4 trophies in 2020!!? C'MON! Who's not pumped!?

Crazy fact, we won't have a bye-week until week 11?! Wow!

Hope we are both undefeated when we meet so we can make the case to get GameDay!

Wait, are you a Michigan fan?!

Michigan has Washington, Wisconsin, Penn State, and in-state rival MSU before they play us so it'll be also a miracle if both Minnesota and Michigan are undefeated! That would be amazing!

I like the enthusiasm, but i don't know if that part is necessary.

We can beat anybody! We may even be favored over Michigan for the first time in this century!

Don't doubt our ability to beat anyone for now!

I guess our defense is going to be a question mark, at least at first, due to numerous graduations. But
this team we just fielded v Auburn could definitely beat Michigan and possibly Ohio state too.

Hopefully we are ready for the early season match ups against rivals IA and WI. If we fare well in those then I would be pretty confident against a inconsistent wolverines squad at home. Michigan is scary only on paper, they always have the upper hand on talent, but Harbaugh is a dope. I believe that we will win!!!

We got 6 one game championships before Michigan!

And we've not been a fast starting team ... one thing at a time!

With the victory over Auburn, if the Gophers can maintain that level, there isn't a single team on the schedule that we can't beat. But a lot of things can happen. First off, we need to retool that whole defensive front - most likely 7 holes to fill. We will need to find a replacement for Johnson, Smith and Brooks too. Then there's the injuries, and intangibles as well.

I will say this though. Next year should be fun and we should have a good shot at it, too. You have to be happy with where we are at and the direction we are heading!

Well, you'll recall that we hammered Michigan in the 2014 season. It was early in the season so they may have been favored but, if they were, they shouldn't have been because they had a bad team in Brady Hoke's final year.

I don't doubt our ability to beat anyone on our schedule but undefeated regular seasons are very rare so chances are that we won't beat everyone.

Michigan, yes, but I don't think the Outback Bowl team would have beaten Ohio State. Ohio State was an outstanding team on both sides of the ball whereas Auburn's reputation was that of a very strong defensive team. Michigan was also a strong defensive team but an unexceptional offensive team. That's why I was relieved when we were matched against Auburn instead of Alabama as some were predicting. Alabama averaged an extremely high 7.9 yards per play on offense this year. Even with their backup QB, they averaged 8.7 against Michigan.

I think we can beat Michigan next year too. Who knows about Wisconsin or Iowa but it would be wonderful to have the jug and Penn St. trophy which would say a lot about how we matchup with the east.

Gophers almost beat Iowa @ Kinnick (really, in fact, beat themselves) and a huge part of that problem was our offensive line not being able to get any push, or even really any hold. Guys in the trenches with another year to grow into adult men should make a huge difference... especially if Epenesa declares. Can't say it enough that it's really hard for a young offensive lineman to jump right in and match brute strength with a veteran or senior. 18/19 vs 22/23 is a world apart development-wise. Re-match @ TCF seems like a sure thing.

Barring major setbacks, the only game i really have serious hesitation in predicting a win is the matchup in Madison, because it's a road game and because its the stinkin' Badgers.

Neither Michigan team puts the fear into me like they might have in the past.

GO GOPHERS!
