The Gophers women’s basketball team picked the right time to get hot last season.
A five-game win streak in February basically secured the Gophers’ spot in the NCAA tournament. Struggling during that period could have cost them a bid, but they took care of business, especially at home.
A similar stretch is coming for second-year coach Marlene Stollings’ team, starting with the Gophers (14-7, 6-4 Big Ten) playing host to Rutgers (13-9, 4-6) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Williams Arena.
