25-13, NIT Champs.

We just won the NIT without our starting center, playing a guy who was on injured reserve, and beating three teams in a row with superior talent. Dickles can coach.. Let's bring in Martin, Mason, Squirrel, along with Piper and Cohen and see this program really start to take off!

I only ask because there is always the people that are "NCAA or bust"

Coming into the season I was expecting NIT, but definitely wasn't expecting to win it. My goals for the team definitely changed midway through the season (I was thinking we could win a game in the NCAAs), but looking at the season as a black box, I'm very happy with it.

Yes, a success. A new coach inheriting a bunch of misfits. Big Dre and Austin were the only ones who were even considered B10 players. And honestly, they didn't even play very good. Think of how good Pitino's team could be once he has his guys.

Very nice

You know about four plays and we are maybe #4 seed in the NCAA. Putback here, basket here, free throw there, etc and we could have real easily won four more games. Not sure how we won 25 but very happy with the season for sure.

YEs, They exceeded expectations at the beginning of the season. We have some good parts coming back and I think we will improve from here.

Yes this season is a success. Not for winning the NIT but I think the season proved Richard Pitino was a solid hire. It also appears he has put together a great coaching staff which bolds well for the future of the program.

Absolutely. I never expected to make the NCAA this year. I wanted to, but didn't think we'd be as close to the bubble as we were. Plus winning 5 in a row and 2 on a neutral court was fun to watch. I'm glad our season made it in to April.

Tough to call the NIT a success, but I was impressed by a lot of things this year. If the only two options are failure or success, it's clear this season was a success.

i honestly expected us to be around 10th in the big ten and no post season. the ncaa tourney is always the number one goal but ending the season with a win under a new coaching staff is a success in my book. now we get to wait to see what this momentum can do for pitino and company. congrats gophers

For sure... This team improved had some bumps in the middle but finished on a very high note. I can't wait to add some new talent to the likes of mo,dre, andre, mcneil, king, should be a lot of fun. With another year under Richard and his system putting new things in.

Successful 1st season absolutely. Wanted the NCAAs but the team goes into the offseason with a lot of positives, going out winning. Pitino got a LOT out of this team. Fun years ahead. This should give us some good recruiting momentum...

If someone told me Richard would get 25 wins I would not have believed it. Nice!

We were picked last in the conference, finished 7th, and won the NIT Championship going up against the only coach to win both a NBA and NCAA Championship. Hell of a season.

Rick and Richard Pitino are the only father/son coaches to win a tournament championship each, NCAA or NIT

Yes. When you consider the fact that many teams in the Big Dance are there because they won mediocre conference tournaments winning the NIT is very much accomplishment.

It's not that tough, give it a try.

After seeing the results this year, I can't wait to see how much the guys improve after another off-season under Pitino

IMO a first year coach winning the NIT is a huge success!!

Mildly. It was a roller coaster with too many valleys. It retrospect of preseason expectations, it looks better but those go out the window when you get a look at the squad and the competition. In my mind it's definitely not a slam dunk success but it's hard not to admit its nice ending in a winning note. Still, a NCAA bid would have been much, much better

Is 25 wins the most we've officially ever had? Hard not to call this season a success given where expectations were at the beginning

No. If you aren't one of the top 68 teams in the country playing in the only tournament that matters, it's not a successful season.

But I do like Pitino and think he got the most out of this team.
