Want to feel old today?! This Gophers legend turned 40 today...

Bleed you are on fire today. I get home from work and have done nothing but read your links. This one makes me feel old, but also a little sad to remember that year and what happened 2 years later with the scandal. Bobby was a special player in Gopher history, too bad other than our memories, it never happened.

A very special player. I just looked up his stats at the U. I always knew he was a good rebounder for a small guy, but didn't realize he averaged over 6 a game as a senior.

Go Gophers!!

God, look at all of those bloodsuckers around him before he goes up to shake David Sterns hand. Dude was a stud though, averaged around 10ppg in his 13 year NBA career and even going as high as 15ppg in Sac Town. He is the real big shot bob! Man was he quick....

Points 7,344 (9.7 ppg)
Rebounds 2,347 (3.1 rpg)
Assists 1,945 (2.6 apg)

Those are impressive NBA stats.

The guy was great. Damn, I was already old when he played. I feel sorry for those that weren't around when he played.

Would love to see the team relevant again. One of Bobby's acrobatic layups was the wallpaper on my computer from like '97-03. That '96-'97 team is my best memory as a Minnesota sports fan and it's not close.

Happy B-Day to one of the best Gophers of my lifetime.

I was in 5th grade when Bobby played. I remember that final four team and the run to it like it was yesterday! Grew up in West Central MN and I can remember everyone going absolutely nuts over Gopher Basketball out here during that tourney run and how great it was! Great memories that I won't forget!

I had forgotten he was thinking about going to Wake Forest...if he had, it would have been Tim Duncan and WF going to that final four. Glad he chose us...even if it was all a dream.

I know that Bobby never played for us, but if he had.....

I would have remembered his first game in a gopher uniform which was against a Cal team with Jason Kidd at the Metrodome (that was back when we played real teams at home during the preseason). Even though Bobby had missed the first couple of weeks of the season because he was injured and he was a little rusty, you could tell that he played the game at a different level than anyone else on the court except Kidd (and there were a lot of really good players on both teams). The gophers lost that game but it was clear that they had found a really, really good player.

Wow! I saw the title and thought "Voshon Leonard" - unfortunately he is way above 40 and it is Bobby Jackson! Happy Birthday to you Bobby! Definitely one of my all-time favorites!

I was at that game. I remember saying to my friend that Jackson looks o.k. at best, but that Kidd kid is special. I was wrong and right.

So many good Gopher Basketballers in the past, younger than I, that I feel old everyday, kinda like station19.
