Visitor Seats

It appears to me that the University has an awful lot of visitor seeats set aside. Is this normal or is there a formula or ratio they have to make available? Could some of these seats be "confiscated" and sold as season tickets if demand warrants it?

It appears to me that the University has an awful lot of visitor seeats set aside. Is this normal or is there a formula or ratio they have to make available? Could some of these seats be "confiscated" and sold as season tickets if demand warrants it?

The Big Ten requires 3000 seats available for the visitors. Every other conference is 5000, I believe.

If the visiting team doesn't sell their allotment of tickets they return them to the University and they become single game tickets that go on sale the week of the game.
