Va Tech fires DC, OL coach, strength coach

Yeah, let's start over 13 games in the season. No confusion there.
Yeah, not likley much changes from the philosophy point of view and schemes will probably be similar. Probably assistants under the DC and OL coach are running things and will likely just do mostly what the departed coaches did. Now the calling of blocking schemes and Defense from play to play might be different in that someone else will be making the call but the overall schemes are likley to be the same.

One small(?) problem though. New DC means no film. New OL coach may mean a chance in blocking schemes?
Good luck with trying to get your team to adept to new schemes in two weeks…

Tough game for PJ to coach...everyone of his players thinks we will win just by showing up.
Pretty easy to get beat if you are not mentally prepared.
Having said that...lol....I hope our backup QB gets some run.

Fleck does a pretty good job getting teams ready to play in bowl games.

I can hear PJ, “since they lost their DC, it was extremely difficult to scout and create an offensive game plan”.

True. But that situation was the players rallying around their own etc.

The real deal was that the offensive mastermind head coach of WSU aka: the PIRATE went out and HIRED TC to be his DC. That’s right, the job TC did impressed the PIRATE and impressed most everyone except possibly you howeda7.

They’re playing with house money and for the name on the front of the jersey and not the back. Those gym rats can be difficult to defeat, as they’ll give a 110% and leave it all on the field.

We’ll likely be a double digit 🐶 .
Umm... have you seen the line? Gophers minus 6.5 currently.

I said nothing negative about TC or THE PIRATE....

He resigned on October 4, 2019; at the time, Washington State's defense was ranked 107th in the nation and was allowing over 30 points per game. This came after the Cougars blew a 49–17 lead at home to UCLA, losing 67–63 in a game in which Cougars quarterback Anthony Gordon threw for a record nine touchdowns.

Unfortunately most of these games that aren't playoff games end up being glorified exhibitions now.

Do they? I don't know. People who don't watch them tell me how irrelevant they are, but ok yeah I mean it's sports so if you only do serious things I have tough news about all of this.

The games typically get good ratings and good attendance considering the all-in price to attend frequently includes inflated airfare and hotel. Why people feel the need to diminish that I have no idea, but I actually watch the games and apart from a handful of YOLO play calls sometimes it sure looks to me like the coaches and players are all competing hard to win. I've seen glorified exhibitions like the old NFL pro bowl. College bowl games don't usually look anything like that. Maybe I'm crazy and I know we're supposed to be super cynical and above everything, but I actually enjoy college football and always think more of it is good.

And perhaps most importantly, unlike exhibitions, spring games, scrimmages, etc. - the results COUNT in the W-L records of both the universities and the coaches.

Yeah i think you forget how that worked out for him...

The pirate was constantly on the move. He must have averaged a new university to coach at every 3 to 4 years. He went through an incredible number of defensive coaches. The problem there was pirate’s offenses, and refusal to even attempt to control the clock, play a little or change from his crazy gunslinging offense. How many interceptions did WSUgive up?

Pirate didn’t let Tc play tc’s defense.[
And TC could not defend an offense that was sure to keep the defense on the field. No clock burning running game that had 5 to 10 minute sustained scoring drives that ended in 7 points.

TC and the Pirate were doomed from their philosophies from the very start.

Reminds me of a line in the movie "Hollywood Shuffle". "and don't mention coke or freebase...unless you've got some!"

.One of my favorite movies of all time. Robert Townsend has a recurring character role in "The Bear" and it's good to see him back in front of the camera a bit.

As for the strength and conditioning coach opening at Virginia Tech, another opportunity for the great strength and conditioning coach in the history of the sport Eric Klein.

IDK, if they have a ton of kids in the portal and opting out and DC is gone this is not close to a full strength VT team compared to the Gophers.
No one will remember. No one remembers all the good Auburn players that sat a few years ago. No one will care IMO

Why are you trying to negatively spin this years later? The announcers made sure to point it out multiple times that it was a 'business trip' for Auburn.

They where at full strength with Bo Nix QB and all their stud defensive players.
