replays at 1:00 PM. Watch it. Don't miss it. Get madder. Write the letter, send the e-mail, and make the phone call tomorrow to Bruinicks and demand better. This was Gopher Nation 9/11. (Yes, I understand it is apples and oranges. I also understand this is Gopher Football with a new Stadium. If we don't turn the program around now, when will it?)

Spread the word to others not on the Hole. It's time to mobilise Gopher Nation (why don't we return to Gold Country?).

I agree. You know what? we could have saved a lot of time. In the future--I don't want to give a coach 5 years and a recruiting cycle to prove himself. We, the fans need instant gratification and should demand nothing less.

Write to those people, say that you expect a 10+ win season every year. Bring in a new coach, and if he doesn't win 10 games in year 1, can him, cause he must be awful and continuity never accompanies winning programs. Every year we will have a new coach until one of them wins 10 games.

And you know what? If a coach DOES win 10 games in year one, but wins less the next year then fire him too. Fire everyone. immediately. Cause THAT is how you breed success.

Seriously, some of the commenters on this board have worse reasoning skills than my 6 year old niece.

And you have no credibility, so who cares what you think?

FYI, yesterday we gave up 41 points and lost to a team that was in Div-II three years ago. This is year four for Brewster. Wasn't sure if you were aware of that when you posted this.

..well, as he points out, some commenters here have worse reasoning skills than his 6 year old niece. Including, I would say, her uncle.

You think they should fire Frank Beamer too? He's had a lot more than 4 years, his team is 0-2, and he just lost to James Madison.

Funny.

You are an excuse maker...I expect more from this school. We can be better than this. We have to be or there will be no one left to care.

Tim Brewster = Frank Beamer. Got it. Thanks.

Do you have a link to a YouTube video that contains instructions on how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

I guess it would be possible to contact the President's Office. See this link:
http://www1.umn.edu/pres/contact.html

Not sure it will help anything, but it says, "Please feel free to contact the Office of the President with your ideas, questions, and concerns." And I'm concerned about having Tim Brewster as our coach. Plain and simple: we are worse off under him than we were under Mason (and I was there for the "Fire Mason" chants in the Dome)

:pig:

I'm not making excuses. Yesterday was a gut wrenching stomach punch. I can't believe that it happened and it kills.

But guess what? It's a long season. IF You fire your coach there's no point in doing it till after the last regular season game, cause that's when you can hire a new coach.

All I've done is preach patience. Let's see how this season plays out. Remember, CFB teams look drastically different from week to week. This season could yet turn out to be a (marginal) step forward. The team could come together and improve week to week until they are good by the end of the year.

If the sky falls and the Gophers lose the rest of their games or something, then yeah, make a change. But only then, when all the information is there to be evaluated.

But no one here knows what will happen the rest of the year. It's amazing how much vitriol is being thrown at the few reasonable posters on this board, who, like myself, want to see the season play out before rendering judgment.

Funny thing about my niece is that she has no patience. She needs everything her way immediately or she throws a hissy fit. Clearly, many the posters on this board suffer from the same disease (although in her case, I'm thinking she grows out of it eventually). I don't know for sure that she will, but I'm willing to wait and see before I pass judgment on her so early on in her life (there's the parable folks).

right, cause that's EXACTLY my point. I hope your mind isn't as simplistic as this post. Great coaches also lose embarrassing games. They aren't fired when they do because people know what they bring to the table.

Now, before you get all ridiculous, I am NOT saying Brew is a great coach. Again, for the umpteenth time, this time for the slow class, all I'm saying is wait till the year progresses before you start calling for people to be fired.

Yeah but Frank Beamer has shown he is a great coach...

Brewster has shown that his mouth is bark is bigger then his bite...

I think he thought coaching was easy when he got hired...

Dude, I'm hardly a fixture of negativity here so calm yourself. I was bashed last year for being too positive. However, there are now a lot of very reasonable posters who, like me, are no longer convinced the program is headed in the right direction. Further, the loss yesterday was so epically bad, again, to a team recently out of Div-II, that it's no longer a fringe opinion to begin thinking about changing the leadership of this team.

Finally, if you want people to lend more credence to your opinions, try not to be such a condescending prick. Just because we disagree doesn't mean we get "all ridiculous" or are members of the slow class. Happy to help.

Maybe we should look at what the coaches are up against having to deal with a football budget that is second lowest of ALL BCS Conference schools. Only Washington State budget being lower.

Comparing Frank Beamer to Tim Brewster we should say Frank's Budget is 18 Million,Tim's Budget is 9 million.

We gave Wacker 5 yrs. look where that got us.

AhilBobwa. can't disagree with no one knows what is going to happen the rest of this year. However, some of the posters are right and you have no credibilty.

I say this because I believe your prediction was "7 or 8 wins..." was a conservative prediction. I assume you were counting South Dakota as a win.

You were one of the psoters that shouted down anyone who had the nerve to say this might be a tough season and the defense would struggle. You bashed the people who didn't agree with you, saying they don't know anything, you watched film, spring practice and you know how great the team was.

Yes, it was only 1 game and the team can improve over the year but they were just toasted on defense by South Dakota. So before you go on bashing others and insisting you know more than them you should try and look at things from reality point of view and not just what I want to believe fan point of view,

That is what just blows me away, 41 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an important part of demanding better. There are some very poor reading and reasoning skills here. I'll look for a youtube video on reading skills for Jike.

Is it really too much to expect that in year four of a coaching regime in the Big Ten that enough progress would have been made regardless of where they started from, that a game against a team that is only recently removed from D-2 would be a victory?

Or do you say that any coach at any time should always be given at least five years regardless of the product and performance on the field before any conclusions can be drawn?

Your argument worked in year one, although that team was far better than the 1-11 mark they achieved. It works in year two when the team was not as good as their 7-1 start indicated, so the decline at the end of the year needed to be taken with a grain of salt. It even worked in year three when the team took a step back overall. In year four it rings hollow. Your providing an excuse for a performance that is inexcusable.

If we'd lost to MTSU, you'd probably have a very thin, but supportable argument. There is not argument that can make yesterday's game go away.

Unfortunately, Tim Brewster has finally defined Minnesota football during his tenure, and that definition centers around the inability to beat FCS football teams.

Or, if that's too much trouble, perhaps you could just give the directions on a chalkboard?

Again, my thanks.
