USC = the new Nebraska?

They shouldn't be bitching. The first QB sneak (3rd down) was probably a TD much less the 4th down attempt.
It's weird, it is a clear TD.

Lincoln seems to think there was a fumble but it's clear from the video the ball is swatted away long after he scores.

If it was a legit close situation you could get it, but arguing against it sends a whole new vibe... desperation.

Even if the argument has merit (his doesn't), whining about the calls after a loss makes it sound like a coach is trying to distract from their own shortcomings. If there is a bad call, let the fans and pundits do the whining.

Shortly after it was announced that USC and the others were joining the B1G some Trojan fan posted a video on Twitter letting all of us know that USC would be taking over conference from the start. I wish I could find that video. It did remind me of the Nebraska fans.

I think we're starting to see that USC is going to need to add brute force to go with the flashy athletes in order to compete with the top level of the B1G. They will continue to lose the battle in the trenches until they add some beef.
They have "beef" they just don't play like it.

Couldn't even win the PAC consistently ...

I was impressed with the way PJ handled the offside call against Michigan. And it was a bullshit call--frick'n ref couldn't help himself looking to make an impact. Asshole.

Their beef on the OL are mostly underclassmen, but upperclassmen are quite small on the current roster. The DL has good size, but most of the linebackers are undersized. Looks like they are making an effort to beef up the interior on both sides of the ball.

Thanks!

To be honest, in real time I thought it WAS an offside, which should never happen on a kickoff. But the replay showed it should not have been called.

Couldn't even win the PAC consistently ...

Not long ago, Lincoln Riley was seen as a young genius, he was an in-demand coach aa well as a media darling.

In the blink of an eye, the narrative has shifted. Looks like they're getting ready to turn on him.

-------------

USC vs. Penn State a turning point for Lincoln Riley? Time for Trojans coach to prove worth with key win

-------------

Is Lincoln Riley on the hot seat?

What I notice often is that when the Gophers win a game vs. a "superior opponent", their take is usually that they were victimized by certain "bad" plays made by their team, and usually no acknowledgment that the Gophers happened to make "good" plays...

Only a good amount of time spent near the top of the standings will change this.

Their "take"will be interesting after PSU boat races them this weekend.

I think all of the PAC-12 schools are in for a surprise.

Nebraska certainly was.

There are degrees to it but I pretty much see the BIG as a two tiered conference and it will be interesting to see where the former PAC schools slot in.

Old Big Ten
Top Tier - Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State
2nd Tier - Everyone else

New Big Ten
Top Tier - Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, and probably USC
2nd Tier - Everyone else.

I think Oregon stays in that top tier, less sure about USC but I think in the end they will remain a slight cut above the rest.

LOS ANGELES – USC broke ground Thursday on the Bloom Football Performance Center, following the announcement of a $50 million gift from the Ronald H. Bloom family.

A state-of-the-art training facility, the Bloom Football Performance Center will serve as the new home of Trojan Football and allow USC Athletics to reimagine the John McKay Center to best serve its entire student-athlete population. It is also the centerpiece of the Athletics West capital projects, which include the construction of a new stadium for USC Baseball at Dedeaux Field and a golf program practice area.

To date, five Cornerstone gifts of $10 million or more have lifted the fundraising total for the Athletics West projects to $157 million. These generous contributions include gifts from the Bloom Family, the Argyros Family Foundation, Robert and Perri Bishop, the Chad and Cari Peets Family, and others. In total, more than 30 contributors have helped push USC past 75% of the project's $200 million fundraising goal.

The Bloom Football Performance Center, scheduled to open in summer 2026, includes two full-length outdoor practice fields – one turf and one natural grass – and a three-story building featuring state-of-the-art spaces dedicated to helping USC's student-athletes reach their fullest potential in all aspects of life.

At more than 160,000 square feet, the facility more than doubles the total square footage for the football program. The lobby will showcase USC's 11 national championships and eight Heisman Trophies – the most of any program in the country – and will include a space honoring the Trojans' 176 All-Americans.

The first floor will house an expanded and best-in-class locker room and players' lounge, with additional state-of-the-art spaces for sports medicine, nutrition, recovery, sports science, and a weight room with direct access to the turf field. The second floor will include a technologically-enhanced walk-through room, a new team meeting room, and position meetings rooms, as well as creative media and branding suites, an NFL alumni locker room, a space for NFL scouts, and a recruiting terrace overlooking the practice fields.

USC needs to get meat and potatoes type players on the line. Line play has been abysmal for a while.

Wow, I don’t follow stats closely, but is Moss really the main problem for them? Seems to me their D is still subpar, and while they run the ball well, they frequently go away from it too often (as was the case against MN).

This doesn't sound any different from ours and I would have thought they would have had something like this years ago. They are a blue blood. They need to remodel the Coliseum, it needs a lot of work.

Gazillions being spent there for the Olympics, no?

I hope you're right. Supposedly they've outgrown their current facility, not enough land to improve that site. Many of their fans would agree with you, wanting more NIL and a better Head Coach.
They put $315 million renovating (2017-2019) the Coliseum. It will be the 2028 Olympic venue for track & field. I've never been there, so I have no opinion on it's condition. How is it compared to Williams Arena?

I have been by it. It is old and with that things wear out. I actually think the Rose Bowl is in worse shape. It is hard to compare to Williams Arena. I am probably in the minority but I think Williams should be replaced or at least gutted from the inside out and start over with an empty shell.

UCLA needs a 40-50k on campus stadium, land is a premium out there. They did or maybe still do have some on campus space, but plans for that fell through.
