USC fires Clay Helton


OSU passed on him. A lot of guys are pretty prideful. He might not want OSU anymore after being given a bad situation to handle then sent along his way.
I don't think it matters...he has said many times he was not ready or prepared to be a HC at that time. They offer, he takes it.
 

According to Vegas, as of today, Fleck is the odds on favorite to land the job after James Franklin turned them down.

He could be angling for a better contract at Penn State, but seems like Franklin will be a top target and he is interested in the job. Unsure if he actually would want to leave a good gig in his home state though.

Yeah, with Ohio State "appearing down" this year, he could get Penn State to the conf champ game, which would be awesome and potentially set PSU up to compete better with them. A few bad years at USC and he could be unemployed.
