There’s probably not much to be learned from beating an FCS team, but at least you can enjoy it.
And enjoy it Minnesota most certainly did.

You know it’s a good day when three quarterbacks get into a game – and not because of injury or ineffectiveness. This one, though, was won more with legs than arms as the Gophers rushed for seven touchdowns in walloping Western Illinois 62-10.

Mohamed Ibrahim had his usual 100-yard game, rushing for 130 with a pair of touchdowns while Trey Potts added two scores and 79 yards on just 10 carries.

It’s not that the quarterbacks didn’t do anything, though. Minnesota passed for 372 yards and had 679 on the day, the third-highest total in program history, and accounted for two of those rushing TDs.

The blowout marked the largest margin of victory for the Gophers since a 62-0 blanking of Temple on Sept. 16, 2006. It was also the first time Minnesota reached the 50-point mark since Oct. 26, 2019 (52-10 over Maryland) and 60 since Nov. 4, 2006 (63-26 over Indiana).

Don’t overthink this one. If was fun for players and fans. Nothing more, nothing less – and that’s OK. It sure beats the opposite.

Go Gophers!!
